Journeys into the past and space flights: don’t miss the unique flowerbeds of the regions
The beauty
and scale of the "Future in Flowers" festival can be appreciated at
the RUSSIA EXPO until July 8. Visitors can enjoy floral art objects, gardening
lectures and a floral show. Near the
"Space" pavilion, around the Vostok rocket, there are 89 flowerbed
expositions from different regions, which are a must-see.
Many
regions decided to pay tribute to their past in their floral compositions. For
instance, the well-known phrase "A nation without knowledge of their past
has no future" became the theme for the Pskov region's flowerbed. In the
centre of the exposition, visitors can see the famous Varlaam Tower - a
five-layered structure representing the ancient fortress cities of Pskov. The
region carefully preserves its past and actively develops historical and
cultural tourism.
The
Novgorod region also emphasizes the memory of the past and respect for
traditions. Its flowerbed exposition is a hymn to enlightenment since Veliky Novgorod is an ancient centre of literacy and writing, and one of the region's symbols
is the birchbark letters. The first one was found in 1951 at the Nerev
excavation. In the centre of the Novgorod region's landscape installation is a
sculpture combining two bright and significant symbols in one composition. A
birchbark scroll made of metal carries texts of several ancient messages, and
nearby are pigeons that brought these messages. The unique and modern design of
the sculptures adds a special touch to the entire composition, symbolizing the
importance of traditions in the present and future.
Space and a
look into the future also inspired many floral expositions. The Amur region's flowerbed draws
attention with its architectural elements: the "Arch", symbolizing
the sunrise in the Far East, the window to the East and the planet Earth, and
the "Satellite among the Stars", representing the development of the
space industry in the region. The Kaluga region's flowerbed features the cosmic
track "Earth — Moon". The main characters of the exposition are
little astronauts whose work transforms the lunar space into a blooming earthly
garden.
The Foreign Minister
will speak at one of the key events of the Symposium - the panel discussion
"Future of Multipolar World."
The first event to be held at the Russia National Centre, which is being established by the order of President Vladimir Putin, will be the International Science Fiction Symposium and Exhibition "Inventing the Future". The symposium will take place from November 4 to 6.
Tomorrow, the International RUSSIA EXPO will conclude its work. From November 2023 to July 2024, it was visited by more than 18 million guests.
