Chip development and mining: lectures on modern technologies and IT solutions were held at VDNH
10.04.2024
The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade's pavilion "Made by Us" at VDNH hosted two lectures on industry from the Russian microelectronics production plant Mikron (part of the Element Group of Companies) and from the leader of the Russian market of industrial digitalization - the Zyfra Group of Companies. As noted by the representatives of the organizations, the topics of the lectures attracted the attention of both specialists and students, as well as simply inquisitive participants wishing to immerse themselves in the world of advanced technologies and innovations.
During the first lecture "Sovereignty of the Country in the Context of Microelectronics: the Challenge is Accepted!" the guests learned about the importance of microelectronics in the modern world, as well as about the prospects and opportunities for the development of engineering personnel in this field. Speeches by Mikron representatives Olga Pestereva and Ilya Mikhailov gave a deeper understanding of the essence and importance of microelectronics in the actively developing technological world.
The speakers shared impressive examples of using microchips in various fields - from the creation of robotic systems and space stations to transport and bank cards:
"Microelectronics is one of the cross-cutting critical technologies necessary for technological sovereignty. No electronic device works without chips. An engineer's job is one of the most important and interesting in the modern world. In high-tech microelectronic production, unique development opportunities are opening up for young specialists. This is the time of engineers!"
It would seem that there is no place for the computer industry in mining. However, this is absolutely not the case. Huge amounts of data, equipment and machines, robotization and complex algorithms - you need to be able to work with it quickly in a variety of approaches.
"Honestly, when I was starting out, I didn't even realize it was this complex and interesting. We work in a highload mode, which they don't write about in books, it's when you need to be able to get through the eye of a needle not only of program requirements, but also of physical requirements. For example, you can't put a radio tower underground in a mine, so you have to build a network where the equipment connects to each other, not just to a server. Or you have to train a neural network to distinguish rocks, they are all gray, but nevertheless we learned to do it. This is a tough challenge and a great direction for developers to explore," said Maxim Gamolin, a representative of the Zyfra Group of Companies.
At the lecture "Why Does a Diamond Mine Need Programmers?" he spoke how modern technologies and IT solutions are changing this industry. Programmers and IT specialists make a huge contribution to improving mining and mineral processing.
