During the Days of the Shenkursky District at VDNH, the delegation of the municipality held a program of masterclasses for the visitors to the International RUSSIA EXPO.
The residents of the district have preserved unique traditions of embroidery and northern painting. The craftswomen from Shenkursk cultural institutions shared the secrets of these folk crafts with the guests of the stand of the Arkhangelsk region.
The artisans taught them northern embroidery, goldwork and free brush painting, told them how the Pomors used these crafts in everyday life and folk costume, as well as about the symbolic meaning they attached to their elements.
Thus, the participants of the masterclasses learned how to paint souvenirs with Shenkursk roses and embroider a brooch with gold thread.
Moscow citizens and guests from other regions also learned about the rich history, cultural heritage and traditions of the Shenkursk land.
Among the visitors there were those who moved to the capital from the Shenkursky district. They came to the stand of the Arkhangelsk region at VDNH to support their fellow countrymen and feel the warmth of their native land.
