Storytellers from Altai, Tuva and Khakassia opened the season of throat singing tournaments at the RUSSIA EXPO
The competitive spirit is an integral part of the updated
cultural program. A series of creative tournaments will become one of the
points of attraction for visitors to the RUSSIA EXPO. The tournaments will show
the diversity of traditions and cultural trends in the country.
The new program of the Exposition was opened by the
Tournament of throat singing masters of Sayano-Altai storytellers. Young
performers and honored artists competed in the art of traditional singing.
Unique vocal customs of Altai, Tuva and Khakassia together with exceptional
performance on traditional musical instruments transported the audience into
the world of Siberian legends.
The participants competed by presenting different
techniques. Altai artists sang in the kai style, guests from Tuva - in hoomei,
which allows you to achieve polyphony, and performers from Khakassia showed the
style of hai, which allows not to get tired for hours. Each performance was
accompanied by a story about the symbolism and meanings embedded in the song.
Emil Terkishev and Oigor Terkishev from the Altai Republic,
Mongun-ool Mongush and Sydymoglu Kuular from the Tuva Republic, Evgeny
Ulugbashev and Kamat Shalgynov from the Republic of Khakassia participated in
the tournament. In a persistent struggle the spectators chose the storytellers
from the Republic of Altai as the winners!
The tournaments will continue throughout the Exposition and will gather participants from all over the country.
During the all-Russian survey "What does the Motherland begin with?", people across the country are answering this question in their own way, opening up the innermost corners of their souls.
Souvenir nevalyashkas (traditional Russian roly-poly dolls), are attracting particular attention, with guests choosing them for their harmonious combination of Russian colour and traditional Chinese symbols.
Under the guidance of artisans, each guest made an unusual souvenir that can become either a personal talisman or a gift with a special story.
