The fusion of graphics and architecture: the open lesson "The Workshop of Colors" was held at the National Centre RUSSIA
On March 9, the National Centre RUSSIA hosted the open lesson "The Workshop of Colors." This event continued the series of open lessons and became part of the educational program of the architectural exposition "The Birth of Scale."
Participants, including children and teenagers, explored the basics of painting and graphics. Under the guidance of Maria Kruglova, a teacher at the Children's School of Arts "START," both beginner and experienced artists learned to work with color and composition, as well as to convey form, volume, light, and shadow in their works. The theme of the lesson was architectural masks — graphic images incorporating architectural elements.
"I really want to teach children to create expressive works. It doesn't matter whether it's a tower or a mask. I want to show how an ordinary object or just an artistic abstraction can be turned into something more specialized. I want to demonstrate which elements can be used in different works. A mask is more of a theatrical object, and it's interesting to present it from an architectural perspective," emphasized Maria Kruglova.
According to Sofia Alisina, a participant of the open lesson, such a session is valuable both for students of art schools and for enthusiasts of visual arts.
"This is a fusion of architecture and design. We draw an abstract shape, idealizing it. And this is quite useful both for young students and for older participants. It is difficult to calculate proportions and do everything correctly so that it turns out even and fits harmoniously into the composition. Such lessons help refine one's experience and skills in both graphic art and painting," noted Sofia Alisina.
Working with graphic forms and transferring architectural elements onto paper stimulates imagination, believes open lesson participant Taya Kharitonova.
"We are drawing an architectural graphic mask in inversion. I like it. I think it develops creativity, gives room for thinking, and allows us to create unusual forms. We are not asked to draw something neat and beautiful. And the inversion, the colors — they give us an understanding of how to work with shadow," shared Taya Kharitonova.
Earlier, during the first open lesson of this series, participants also found inspiration in the exposition "The Birth of Scale" and created towers, incorporating architectural elements into their artwork.
The series of open lessons will continue. The program is designed for those who want to develop their artistic skills. Attendance is free, but prior registration is required on the website of the National Centre RUSSIA at russia.ru.
