"A way to find harmony with the world around you": guests of the RUSSIA EXPO were taught traditional singing
A
masterclass on traditional singing was held at the RUSSIA EXPO by Maria
Medvedchenkova, a teacher and co-founder of the Komon School, a researcher of
traditional culture in the context of the present day.
Through
vocal lessons, Maria Medvedchenkova helps people to experience their emotions,
establish proper breathing and coordination with the body.
"Singing
is a way for a person to find harmony with the world around them and
themselves. It was so many years ago, when a song in the Russian village sounded
constantly for all occasions. Today, within the big city, singing helps us to
take a break from accumulated problems, worries, to come to our senses and calm
down," said Maria Medvedchenkova.
She noted that during the masterclass the guests had an opportunity to learn the right way of breathing and master their voice in a natural manner, because singing was a natural process for our ancestors.
The event was organized with the support of the "Istok" (lit. "Source") project - its author is actress and producer Sofia Ernst. The project is dedicated to the development and popularization of Russian folk culture among young people.
