Sustainable development values and ESG agenda were discussed at the RUSSIA EXPO in Pavilion T "Dream Home" — the starting meeting of the Committee for Sustainable Development and ESG (principles laid down in company management: environmental, social and corporate governance) of the Russian Managers Association was held here.

The meeting was moderated by the co-chairmen of the Committee for Sustainable Development and ESG of RMA: Marina Slutskaya, Director for Sustainable Development and International Cooperation of DOM.RF, and Yaroslava Vrubel, Head of Sustainable Development and Investor Relations of PJSC Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK).

Based on the results of the committee's work, a substantive work plan for the year will be formed. Each meeting will be accompanied by the publication of specific applied cases and recommendations of the association participants.

Marina Slutskaya told the guests of the event which elements are incorporated into the concept of "sustainable development" by DOM.RF.

"DOM.RF has been working on the principles of sustainable development since its foundation. Our key concern is quality and affordable housing. This is a social mission that defines our activities and permeates them. The division for sustainable development and international cooperation itself appeared in the company in March 2022. We have been searching for and taking as a basis for our work those meanings and values that we believe are relevant today, in the current environment and with all the existing constraints. These values include: quality, risk management, technological development, trust, contractual capacity and a long-term horizon, as well as caring. Sustainable development is doing business today in a way that will not be to the detriment of future generations. Sustainable development is the ability to think long term, sometimes with the horizon of many generations to come," emphasized Marina Slutskaya.

Yaroslava Vrubel in her speech noted that Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works pays great attention to the values of sustainable development.

"Our ESG division was created in 2019, but we started to deal with this topic much earlier. All our employees, including top management, live in Magnitogorsk, and we ourselves are interested in developing the quality of life in the region where we are located. Our enterprise is a city-forming enterprise, it cannot exist without social and ecological agendas. All of us want to live in the city with clean air, good ecology and social support," said Yaroslava Vrubel.

She also pointed out that Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works actively works on the direction of support of motherhood and childhood.

"The company annually directs significant resources to support families, including trips to sanatoriums and children's camps. Back in the 90s — early 2000s it was fashionable for enterprises to get rid of such "non-core" facilities. We have kept and preserved all these objects, and now they are multiplying, although for a long time the company was persuaded to sell them. But our owner remained adamant: it is important, it is necessary to the city, there are residents who need it. Now, the unique project on improvement of an urban environment is realized in Magnitogorsk - "Attraction" park, its initiator and the main investor is the chairman of board of directors of MMK Victor Rashnikov. This is a year-round, multifunctional park space with an area of 400 hectares. Today a two-level lake with a view bridge, an artificial hill with tracks for skiers and snowboarders have already been built. There are plans to open city thermae, a children's indoor amusement park, a hockey academy and other facilities," Yaroslava Vrubel added.
