Stylish accessories and home goods: Vyatka baskets on the shelves of the Department Store at the National Centre RUSSIA
At the Department Store of the National Centre RUSSIA, everyone can find a wide variety of household goods. Among them are Vyatka baskets — authentic examples of folk arts and crafts originating in the Kirov region. Each piece is handwoven in accordance with centuries-old traditions, combining elegance of form with undeniable practicality.
Vyatka craftsmen have long been renowned for the art of willow weaving, and the basket-making trade experienced rapid growth in the mid-19th century in the village of Ust-Chepetskoye in the Kirov region. Artisans wove everything: from coal boxes and fish traps to sturdy containers for drinks. The highest level of their craftsmanship was demonstrated by woven frames for horse-drawn vehicles — sledges, tarantasses, and carriages.
Today, Vyatka baskets serve not only as a practical element for storing and carrying items but also as stylish accessories for the home. Their production uses natural materials such as willow and birch bark. The quality of the weaving ensures both aesthetics and convenience in use.
In the Department Store space, one can find not only baskets but also other items from the Kirov region: porcelain, Dymkovo toys, Vyatka painting, and matryoshka dolls.
The Department Store of the National Centre RUSSIA is a space that brings together more than 160 producers from over 62 regions of the country. It is open daily from 10:00 to 20:00, except Mondays.
