Countries need a platform for dialogue: "Presentation of the Future of the World" session was held at the National Centre RUSSIA
The second day of the international Open Dialogue "The Future of the World. New Platform for Global Growth" began at the National Centre RUSSIA with the session "Presentation of the Future of the World" on 29 April. Leading global experts discussed what an effective platform for international dialogue should look like. Key topics of the presentation session included climate change, the energy crisis, technological development, environmental threats, and other pressing issues concerning the global community.
Sergei Ivanov, Executive Director and Member of the Board of Directors of the EFKO Group, stressed that business can only be sustainable if it is socially beneficial.
"If the system needs to begin changing somehow, who should be the first to change? The state, society, and business. If that's the case, then the English language gives shareholders an interesting hint. In English, the word 'ownership' and 'owner' implies not just financial dependency. 'Own' means to owe, to be obligated. So, it turns out that you owe something, first of all, to yourself, your society, your country," said Sergei Ivanov.
The topic of environmental threats became one of the main focuses of the "Presentation of the Future of the World" session. As stated by Brazilian expert and co-founder of Allia Eco, Dayana Uhdre De Carvalho, humanity today is closer than ever to a global catastrophe, the main cause of which is climate change.
"Temperatures are rising, floods are becoming more frequent, the weather is becoming unstable, and we are seeing large-scale fires, floods, and hurricanes. Crises are occurring across the planet, but the responsibility lies with everyone. Governments are not doing enough, and there are constant disputes in the world about who will compensate for the damage. It is impossible to build a new world without dialogue. It is a matter of trust and justice. The most important asset is not oil, not gold, and not data — it is life itself," noted Dayana Uhdre De Carvalho.
She added that the global community lacks a platform for dialogue and a new platform for global growth, one that would be based on the integration of technology and nature.
The issues of technological development and safety were central to the speech of the expert from Singapore, Rashid Yazami, President of KVI Holdings and member of the International Committee for the Global Energy Prize. He spoke about his invention — a chip that recharges a battery in 10 minutes.
"I would like to sincerely thank the National Centre RUSSIA and the team working on the Open Dialogue for the opportunity to come to Russia and see the magnificent city, the capital of the Russian Federation — Moscow. All of you have my invention in your smartphone. I believe this is exactly what became a revolution — we now carry ultralight smartphones: we can communicate with our families, do our jobs, stay in touch with friends. The lithium-ion battery is a major revolution. They are used not only in smartphones, but also in other technologies: airplanes, boats, any kind of equipment," emphasised Rashid Yazami.
The second day of the Open Dialogue continued with panel pitch sessions featuring experts and essay authors across all four tracks: "Investments in Human Capital," "Investments in Technology," "Investments in the Environment," and "Investments in Connectivity."
