The concert programme "Let Us Bow to Those Great Years..." performed by the Alexandrov Military Ensemble became a bridge between generations and a continuation of traditions that are now supported by the National Centre RUSSIA. The audience greeted the most iconic wartime songs with standing ovations.

Maria Dudenina attended the concert with her son Yaroslav. The young musician plays the flute and was able to appreciate the musical programme from a professional point of view.

"I was amazed by everything. I liked the songs 'Smuglyanka' and 'Victory Day' — I love those songs," Yaroslav shared.

"We really enjoyed the entire concert, we didn’t expect it to be on such a scale. It was grand and musical. The orchestra, the choir, the dance ensemble — everything was stunning! We appreciated it from an instrumental perspective as well, since my son studies music. We liked everything very much!" — said Maria.

The Golenkov family also came to the National Centre RUSSIA on May 23. It was the first time they brought their children to such a large-scale concert.

"Everything was wonderful. We brought the little ones to an adult concert for the first time. It was a new experience for them. No one cried, they clapped and enjoyed it. Of course, the most moving songs were 'The Sacred War', 'Cranes', and certainly 'Smuglyanka.' The dance numbers were excellent — our son especially liked the sailors’ performance. He said the best dancers are the sailors! My wife even shed a tear during 'Cranes'," said Sergei Golenkov.

"Such things cannot leave you unmoved. This is our memory, our link with past generations. I believe concerts like this are truly necessary and important, and it is essential to bring the younger generation to them. Some things are etched into our DNA, so this must be done. We are deeply grateful to the National Centre RUSSIA," shared Olga Golenkova.

According to Darya Barbey, a guest of the National Centre RUSSIA, the concert offered a chance to see a performance by the legendary Alexandrov Military Ensemble.

"This is my first time at a concert of the ensemble — before, I had only seen individual performances by its musicians. I really enjoy it; it touches the soul, especially as we approach the 80th anniversary of Victory. The piece 'Cranes' is incredibly moving — it brings tears every time," said Darya Barbey.

The twice Red Banner and Order of the Red Star academic song and dance ensemble of the Russian Army named after A. V. Alexandrov is a unique cultural legacy of our country. It was the world’s first military ensemble of its kind, created nearly 97 years ago by the outstanding choirmaster and composer, professor of the Moscow Conservatory, Major General Alexander Alexandrov. It became the primary model for the creation of similar military ensembles in other countries.

The ensemble has toured in 77 countries, performing works — including pieces in the languages of many nations across the globe.

The head of the ensemble is Colonel Gennady Sachenyuk, Honoured Artist of Russia and professor at the V. S. Popov Academy of Choral Arts.
