"Such masterpieces give a boost to development": visitors of the "Soul of Russia" exposition shared their impressions
The patchwork exposition "Soul of Russia" is open at the National Centre RUSSIA until July 27. The exposition features works created by modern artisans from various regions of our country using the techniques of traditional handmade art.
Visitors to the National Centre RUSSIA have the opportunity to see patchwork panels reminiscent of paintings, as well as cosy quilts adorned with folk patterns.
Anastasia came to the exposition from the town of Semikarakorsk in the Rostov region.
"I draw inspiration from these works. I make patchwork quilts myself. I attend a patchwork club — it's been my hobby for 10 years. I even brought a suitcase full of fabric scraps with me to Moscow, so I can continue creating here," said Anastasia.
Yelena from the town of Vyazma in the Smolensk region particularly enjoyed the panel "Koltsov’s Songs."
"This is not my first time at such an exposition — I attended the 'Soul of Russia' International Patchwork Festival in 2023. Back then, I was amazed by the pieces made from tiny scraps stitched together using a special technique. From a distance, I even thought it was an oil painting. This exposition also features similar works. When you see such masterpieces, it truly gives a boost to development," the artisan shared.
Yelena creates her own patchwork items — kitchen textiles, quilts, and bedspreads. She says this type of creativity is an important form of self-expression.
Rimma Bybina, organiser of the "Soul of Russia" International Patchwork Festival, expressed her gratitude to the National Centre RUSSIA for bringing together the most talented artisans from cities including Ufa, Arkhangelsk, Voronezh, Tula, Moscow, Perm, Ivanovo, Saint Petersburg, Tyumen, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Lipetsk, Cheboksary, Bryansk, Voronezh, and many others.
