Three sheaves and Abashevo ceramics - Penza symbols decorated the Christmas tree of the region
The decor
of the Penza Christmas tree is brightly dominated by the products of a unique
art craft of the region - Abashevo ceramics.
Abashevo
toys are one of the oldest crafts that have preserved the tradition up to
nowadays. Since ancient times the craft was a family business. Children from an
early age were involved in the work: from the age of 10 they were kneading
clay, and at the age of 15-16 they were already making items, mastering the
craft.
Three
sheaves, which symbolize the wealth of the Penza land, are also used in the
decoration. The sheaves are also displayed on the coat of arms of the region,
approved back in 1878.
