"We don't have a country, we have a cosmos": MSPU professor Yevgeny Zharinov in new National Centre RUSSIA podcast
At the National Centre RUSSIA, literary scholar, writer, and professor at the Department of Theory and History of Art at the Institute of Fine Arts at Moscow State Pedagogical University Yevgeny Zharinov noted the interconnection between Russian poetry and prose with the boundless expanses of the country. A fascinating conversation about Russia, its people, and literature as a mirror of the era formed the basis of a new episode of the "Russia Speaks" podcast — an original educational project by the National Centre RUSSIA.
According to Yevgeny Zharinov, Russia is more than territory. It's not simply a state marked on the world map, but an entire cosmos, where time zones, cultural traditions, languages and religions intersect harmoniously.
"Where else can you fly for ten hours and still be in your own country? So many time zones pass, the clocks hands spin like mad. Russia isn't just a country — it's a cosmos. That’s why the idea of cosmism runs so deeply through Russian poetry and prose," declared Yevgeny Zharinov. .
