The Ulyanovsk region presented the concept of the Barge Live music festival at the RUSSIA EXPO

On April 3 at the RUSSIA EXPO at VDNH, visitors to the "Our Culture" pavilion could join the panel discussion "Prospects for the Development of the Music Industry in Modern Russia". The meeting was moderated by Tatyana Ivshina, Executive Director of the Creative Industries Foundation of the Ulyanovsk region.
The participants of the event discussed the prospects of development of the music industry in modern Russia, the problems of the sector. The Ulyanovsk region presented new music projects and major festival events.
Speakers were Head of the Department of Producing Performing Arts at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, expert of the Creative Industries Faculty of the NRU HSE Oleg Ivanov, producer of the Katyusha band Ilya Volvich, author and organizer of the Barge Live music festival Kirill Kuznetsov.
"The Ulyanovsk region has long chosen the development of creative industries as a priority and since this year, having signed an agreement with the Agency for Strategic Research, has been implementing a regional standard for the development of creative industries, according to which each industry is in the sphere of our attention. Thus, music is one of the areas that forms a large creative market. Today it is a cross-industry, where content creators, performers, media, digital platforms, technologies and marketing converge at one point. And in the context of the music events we are announcing, we thought it was important to address this very topic at the International RUSSIA EXPO," said Tatyana Ivshina.
The meeting also discussed trends in the development of the industry in the country, talked about new approaches to music events, the birth of unexpected creative phenomena in the new world realities, covered the use of artificial intelligence in writing musical compositions, and also discussed the role of creative economy and its impact on contemporary art.
"Currently, many artists and creative people are looking for new ways to monetize their work, and the creative economy could be one of the main solutions to this issue. As for the art of the future, I am absolutely sure that it will be closely connected with science and technology and will serve as one of the tools for the development of society as a whole," said Oleg Ivanov.
During the discussion, the speakers did not overlook the history of local musical products, thanks to which the audience learned about the Barge Live music festival held in the water area of the Volga River in Ulyanovsk. The festival found a wide response not only in the hearts of Ulyanovsk citizens and guests from all over Russia - last year the event was attended by more than 6500 thousand spectators and about 100 musicians from Ulyanovsk, Moscow, Samara, Izhevsk, St. Petersburg and Vladivostok, but also the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. This year's Barge Live will take place on May 25. One of the four headliners who will perform at the festival will be cult Russian performer Linda.
