"Geography Lessons" on any screen: a 360 virtual tour of the exposition is now available on the National Centre RUSSIA website
The National Centre RUSSIA continues to make its expositions accessible to everyone interested in the country in all its diversity. Everyone can now explore the "Geography Lessons" exposition online in detail, wherever they are. A 360° virtual tour of the exposition, which was open at the National Centre RUSSIA from 3 April to 9 July, is now available on russia.ru.
The "Geography Lessons" exposition is dedicated to a vast country that stretches across 11 time zones, connects Europe and Asia and occupies one-eighth of the world's landmass. The exposition showcases the contrasts of Russia's landscapes, from permafrost to subtropical regions, as well as its wealth of natural resources, unique flora and fauna, and the rivers and seas that have shaped the way of life of the peoples of our country for centuries.
Geographical maps hold a special place in the exposition. They are genuine "time machines" and records of their eras. They reveal where key battles took place, how new territories were explored and where natural disasters occurred. The maps make it possible to trace Russia's journey through battles, discoveries and transformations and understand its place in the wider world. A separate section of the exposition is dedicated to natural resources and the transport arteries that bind the entire country together.
The virtual tour allows visitors to examine the exhibits at their own pace and in detail, zoom in on maps and explore diagrams of historical battles, texts and illustrations — something that is not always possible even when visiting an exposition in person. "Geography Lessons" online is an excellent way to experience the atmosphere of all eight themed halls, revisit favourite exhibits and once again feel proud of the country.
