Three expositions open at the National Centre RUSSIA as part of International Week of Unity of the Peoples of Russia
Three expositions have opened at the National Centre RUSSIA as part of International Week "Peoples of Russia". The photographic expositions and an archival project explore how the country and its peoples defend the Motherland, preserve history and keep alive the memory of their ancestors' heroic deeds. Themes connecting the expositions include the heroism of those who safeguard peace and law and order, the shared victory of fraternal peoples, and a unified portrait of the country, from the Arctic to the Caucasus and from the Kaliningrad Region to Vladivostok. Each exposition shows in its own way how the unity of the peoples of Russia is built through the personal contributions of individuals: investigators, soldiers, defenders and home-front heroes.
The photographic exposition "Russia's Investigative Committee Today During the special military operation" presents works by war correspondent Anatoly Zhdanov, a special photojournalist for the Kommersant Publishing House. The exposition features images documenting the work of investigators and forensic investigators of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation during the special military operation. Taken during hostilities between 2022 and 2026, the photographs capture the aftermath of shelling in towns and villages and the destruction of homes, schools, factories, hospitals and power stations. The photographer's visual studies tell the stories of heroes, investigators, forensic investigators and all those who uphold the law and maintain order.
The Security Council Staff of the Russian Federation presented the exposition "The Republics for the Front. 1941–1945" at the National Centre RUSSIA. It draws on archival documents and photographs that vividly illustrate the shared heroic contribution of all the Soviet republics to the Great Victory. The exposition forms part of a broader project inspired by an awareness of the extent to which history is being distorted today, particularly in European countries, and the importance of countering this. The series was prepared by a large team of authors, including historians and researchers from the Russian State University for the Humanities, with the participation of the Russian Historical Society and representatives of the academic community in CIS countries. It uses materials from the Federal Archival Agency and was developed under the overall coordination of the Security Council Staff of the Russian Federation and the security council staffs of CIS countries.
The third exposition, the Ministry of Defence's photographic exposition "The Motherland We Defend", showcases the country's vast landscapes and the strength of its army. The photographs capture diverse parts of Russia, from the Kaliningrad Region to Vladivostok and from the Arctic to the Caucasus. Together, they form more than a geographical overview: they create a unified portrait, with each photograph showing a soldier wherever he is needed to provide protection. The key word in the exposition's title is "we". The Motherland is defended by individuals rather than abstract forces or anonymous units, and each has a town, a street, a river and a view from their window of their own. These photographs were taken so that the view from that window can remain as it is.
