The results of the exposition "Legacy for the Future" were summarized et the National Centre RUSSIA
On February
3, the National Centre RUSSIA hosted the panel discussion "A Space of
Opportunities for Young Artists in Russia: Rethinking the Future," where
the results of the International Exposition of Artists "Legacy for the
Future" were reviewed.
Deputy
Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Sergei Pershin highly praised the
role of the "Legacy for the Future" exposition in terms of cultural
development and international cooperation in this field.
"I
would like to express my gratitude for the excellent organization of the
'Legacy for the Future' exposition and convey the sincere admiration of
Russia’s Minister of Culture, Olga Lyubimova, who personally visited the
exposition and shared her impressions on her Telegram channel. The state is
interested in supporting expositions of young artists because these expositions
reflect current social trends, showcase national culture and artistic features,
and capture the spirit of the present time. And, of course, we should not
forget that art is also one of the tools of international diplomacy,"
noted Sergei Pershin.
Over the
course of three months, the "Legacy for the Future" exposition was
visited by more than 110,000 people.
"Despite
cultural differences, emotions and feelings are universal for everyone, and it
was very important for us to uncover this in our project. The exposition ran
for three months, during which it welcomed more than 110,000 visitors. We have
received incredible feedback about the exposition — both verbal and written. We
are very happy that this was a success and grateful to all the young artists
who took part. We are now preparing a large catalogue — a kind of tangible
legacy summarizing the results of the exposition. I hope that very soon,
everyone will be able to see and appreciate it," said Olesya Malevannaya,
Head of the Laboratory for Cultural and Educational Projects at the National
Centre RUSSIA.
The curator
of the "Legacy for the Future" exposition, Rector of the Ilya Repin
St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, Semyon Mikhaylovsky, also highlighted the
shared interests of young artists within the diversity of world cultures.
"We
designed the exposition like a puzzle, and in some places, the pieces fit
together in an incredibly precise way — through ideas, concepts, and
atmosphere. This compatibility moved us deeply because artists from different
countries think about the same things and experience similar emotions. The
exposition is largely about national identity. As we think about the future and
move toward it, we must not forget what connects us to our country and our
culture," said Semyon Mikhaylovsky.
The
International Art Exposition "Legacy for the Future" opened at the
National Centre RUSSIA on November 4 as part of the launch of the International
Symposium "Inventing the Future."
"We
have seen how different the visions of participants from various art schools
are regarding what the future holds for us, yet how similar the issues that
young artists from different countries raise in their works are. I would like
to thank the National Centre RUSSIA for the hospitality it provides and for the
projects it brings to life within its walls," noted the moderator of the
discussion, Executive Secretary of the Creative Council of the International
Competition for Young Artists "Picture of the World," Alexei Lebedev.
The
exposition featured more than 250 artworks in various techniques — from
painting to video art — created by talented young artists from six countries:
Russia, China, India, Brazil, Ethiopia, and Iran.
The central work was a scaled-down replica of the "Son of the Earth" sculpture, depicting a sleeping infant, located in the Gobi Desert. Its author is Dong Shubing, one of the prominent figures in contemporary Chinese art.
