The second lesson of the Young Tour Guides School, which started at the venue on February 1, was held at the National Centre RUSSIA. The leading tour guide of the National Centre, Mikhail Sharayev, told the children about the key qualities a representative of this profession should have.

"A tour guide is not just a person who tells stories. They are a bridge between the past and the present, between culture and the visitor. For example, what is the best way to understand what is displayed in a technical museum? By reading the plaques yourself and seeing what machines are there, what their wheels look like, their colors? Or by having a specialist explain how the engine works, who drove such cars, in what year they were popular, what their maximum speed was, and so on? The answer is clear: it is better with a tour guide. After all, even the best plaques do not contain all the information," emphasized Mikhail Sharayev.

As part of the lecture, the expert highlighted the key qualities of a tour guide, including communication skills, erudition, organizational abilities, stress resistance, eloquence, and creativity. He also explained the importance of each skill and suggested simple exercises to develop them.

In addition, Mikhail Sharayev noted that a tour guide needs not only professional but also personal qualities such as kindness, tact, and responsibility.

"These skills develop through experience and practice, personal motivation, and a genuine interest in the profession. The more a tour guide invests in themselves, the more they can offer their audience," concluded the school instructor.

The Young Tour Guides School project continues the tradition established at the International RUSSIA EXPO. It involves schoolchildren from Moscow and the Moscow region aged 9 to 17, with a training duration of three months. Participants immerse themselves in the world of history, art, and technology, gain a deeper understanding of the country's cultural legacy, and learn speech techniques and public speaking skills. Upon completion of the program, young guides will conduct tours of the expositions at the National Centre RUSSIA.
