The All-Russian Forum of Higher Education Teachers takes place at the National Centre RUSSIA
On November
19, the First All-Russian Forum of Higher Education Teachers is being held at
the National Centre RUSSIA. The event is organized by the League of Higher
Education Teachers with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher
Education of the Russian Federation.
The opening
event of the forum was a ceremonial gathering in honor of Higher Education
Teacher Day, a professional educational holiday established in Russia in 2021
by order of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
Participants were congratulated via video message by Dmitry Chernyshenko,
Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
"Dear
friends, I congratulate you on your professional holiday — Higher Education
Teacher Day. The date, November 19, was chosen deliberately. We honor
teacher-mentors on the birthday of the distinguished Russian scientist Mikhail
Vasilyevich Lomonosov. Higher education is a particular pride of our country.
Our leading universities — MSU, MGIMO, Saint Petersburg State University,
Bauman Moscow State Technical University, PhysTech, and many others — are not
only the flagships of Russian but also of global education," said Dmitry
Chernyshenko.
The Deputy
Prime Minister added that Russian universities are home to talented faculty
members, academics, and professors. In total, more than 200,000 educators
across the country teach modern, in-demand disciplines to students whose
numbers have grown by nearly 300,000 over the past three years, now reaching
approximately four million.
Deputy
Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Olga Petrova
also addressed the forum participants. She emphasized the importance of the forum
for advancing education in the country and thanked all attendees for their
dedication and contributions toward achieving the national goals set by
President Vladimir Putin.
"One
of the goals was mentioned by Dmitry Nikolaevich, and I would like to highlight
another one — the realization of each individual's potential, the development
of their talents, the cultivation of patriotic and socially responsible
citizens. You accomplish this every day in classrooms, sharing not only
knowledge but also teaching about our traditions, values, and the foundation of
our big country," said Olga Petrova.
The forum
also focused on improving university infrastructure, opening new
state-of-the-art laboratories, supporting student startups, and expanding
international cooperation with BRICS and SCO countries.
One of the
highlights of the forum was the award ceremony for the winners of the
All-Russian "Golden Names of Higher Education" competition. Winners
were recognized in categories such as "For Contribution to Science and
Higher Education," "For Academic Mentorship," "Young
Scientific and Teaching Talents," and others.
"I would like to emphasize that this successfully implemented initiative has become a powerful platform for identifying and recognizing outstanding representatives of university faculty across the country. Through the competition, we showcase individuals who exemplify professionalism and competence, inspiring their colleagues to achieve new heights," said Inna Svyatenko, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, in her video message.
The winners
were congratulated by Yelena Lyapuntsova, Chair of the Coordinating Council of
the League of Higher Education Teachers. She highlighted the significance of
the forum, which brought together the nation's leading professionals. Yelena
Lyapuntsova added that the event will serve as a platform for implementing
innovative ideas.
