The
National Centre RUSSIA will host a meeting dedicated to the 120th anniversary
of the birth of the renowned Russian writer Mikhail Sholokhov.
As part of
the Centre’s "Thursday. Development" original lecture series, a
meeting will take place on May 24 to commemorate one of Russia’s most
significant writers and Nobel Prize laureates in literature, Mikhail Sholokhov.
During this
open discussion, experts will talk about Sholokhov’s life and creative journey,
as well as the influence his works have had on Russian culture.
The event
will be hosted by Kristina Yegorova, creative producer and host of the show
"Deconstruction." Speakers include Professor Yuri Dvyoryashin,
editor-in-chief of the "Sholokhov Encyclopedia," and historian Sergei
Sopelev.
Participants
will learn how Sholokhov, who had only a few years of formal education, managed
to become one of Russia’s greatest writers, and why debates around "And
Quiet Flows the Don" still continue today. The experts will discuss how
events of the Great Patriotic War are reflected in Sholokhov’s works, and share
stories about notable film adaptations based on his books. At the end of the
meeting, there will be an opportunity for guests to ask questions and speak
with the experts.
The meeting
will take place at Pavilion No. 7 on Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment in Moscow,
beginning at 15:00. Admission is free, but seating is limited. To register,
