Participation of the National Centre RUSSIA in strengthening Russian-Chinese relations discussed in Beijing
A working meeting was held between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to the People's Republic of China, Igor Morgulov, and Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA, Natalia Virtuozova. The main topic of discussion was new formats for integrating the National Centre into major trade fairs and expositions in China, as well as the participation of Chinese partners in events held at the Moscow venue.
Natalia Virtuozova also spoke about the participation of the National Centre RUSSIA in the 10th Russian-Chinese EXPO, taking place from 17 to 21 May. The exposition features the flagship Department Store project of the National Centre. The stand showcases a wide range of products from Russian manufacturers representing different regions of the country — from traditional folk crafts to clothing featuring quotes by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The exposition has generated genuine interest and a strong response from Chinese audiences.
A key highlight of the stand is the display of a model of the new National Centre RUSSIA building in Moscow on Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment, the construction of which was launched by President Vladimir Putin on 26 March 2026. As part of the exposition in China, the concept of the architectural "protective covering" is complemented by samples of tiles, mosaics, lace and woodwork that are planned for the future interiors of the Centre. The complex, covering more than 200,000 square metres, is set to become an architectural landmark of global significance and a symbol of modern Russia.
Special attention was also given to plans for establishing a branch on Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island in the Khabarovsk Territory. The island is unique in that it belongs to both Russia and China. The building technologies planned for the project will ensure resilience to climatic conditions while creating a facility that meets the standards of contemporary architecture.
On the eve of the EXPO opening in Harbin, the construction of the branch in the Khabarovsk Territory was discussed during the plenary session of the Intergovernmental Russian-Chinese Commission for Cooperation and Development of the Russian Far East and North-East China. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, Yury Trutnev; Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Zhang Guoqing; and Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA, Natalia Virtuozova.
The guest travelled to Harbin from Beijing and admitted that the National Centre RUSSIA stand became a real discovery for him.
The educational video project "8 Steps Across the Map of Russia" has taken its second step: a new episode titled "The Exploration of Siberia" has been posted on the website of the National Centre RUSSIA.
