Leading Russian architects appreciate the grandeur of their colleagues' vision at "The Birth of Scale" exposition
The history of Russian architecture, bold concepts, and
Soviet urban planning projects realised across the globe were presented to
delegations from the Government of the Moscow Region and relevant departments
during a tour of the exposition "The Birth of Scale" at the National
Centre RUSSIA on May 31.
The event
was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the
Moscow Region, the Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning of the Moscow
Region, as well as members of the Union of Architects of Russia, the Council of
Chief Architects of the Subjects of the Russian Federation and Municipalities,
and the Association of Designers of the Moscow Region.
In her
welcoming speech, Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA Natalia
Virtuozova noted that the architectural exposition "The Birth of
Scale" brings together the cultural legacy of our country and foundations
for the future.
"The
mission of the National Centre RUSSIA is to preserve the legacy and build the
future of our country. The great visions of Russian architects are
continued by young creators in our children's workshops. In dialogue with the
younger generation, we ask ourselves: 'What legacy will we leave to our
descendants?' Today, our entire team — together with our guests and regional
branches opening across Russia — is in search of that future," Natalia
Virtuozova emphasised.
She added
that true architecture of the future is born at the intersection of tradition
and innovation — a principle embedded in the concept of the new building of the
National Centre RUSSIA, set to appear on Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment by 2029.
The new home of the National Centre RUSSIA will be a high-tech space
imbued with profound meaning, Virtuozova added.
Guests of
the National Centre RUSSIA were guided through the history of architecture by
the chief curator of "The Birth of Scale," Andrei Chernikhov. According
to him, the exposition was created in record time.
"The
exposition covers more than 2,000 square metres. Together with the
wonderful team at the National Centre RUSSIA, we brought it to life in just two
months. Several dozen models were created specially for the exposition,
including ones that had never been made before — such as models of Russian
skyscrapers designed by students of VKhUTEMAS. Our aim was not to show a
chronological history of Russian architecture, but to highlight the periods of
greatness — the moments when ambitious projects were born. When the
installation began, I could feel the power of its scale. Today, every guest of
the National Centre can experience it," said Andrei Chernikhov.
