"The Century of Childhood": Anastasia Zvyagina spoke about the cooperation between the National Centre RUSSIA and Artek
Graduates of the International Children's Centre Artek from all regions of Russia and various countries across the world will arrive at the National Centre RUSSIA on June 4. The guests will enjoy a festive concert dedicated to the celebration of the camp's 100th anniversary. This event will mark the beginning of cooperation between the National Centre RUSSIA and Artek, said the Deputy Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA, Anastasia Zvyagina, at a press conference at TASS.
"The National Centre RUSSIA was established on the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, as a place where we reflect on the country's achievements, take pride in them, and together create an image of the future. Caring for children is, in itself, an investment in the future. In this, we share much with Artek: together we preserve traditions, passing them on to new generations, making them understandable and alive. For one hundred years, Artek has remained the best educational platform for children, and we are delighted that on June 4 graduates of the legendary camp from all regions of the country will come to the National Centre RUSSIA. Our cooperation with Artek will continue to develop: already this summer, guides of the School of the Young Guides of the National Centre RUSSIA will go to Artek to present our project in the format 'children for children,'" shared Anastasia Zvyagina.
On June 4, guests of the festive event will attend guided tours of the expositions "Journey Across Russia" and "The Birth of Scale" at the National Centre RUSSIA. Young people and adults alike will discover all of the federal districts, their achievements and cultural legacy, as well as the history of Russian architecture — from ancient times to modern technological breakthroughs.
The programme will conclude with a large festive concert featuring Artek participants from previous years, including foreign participants. Among the artists will be Oleg Gazmanov, Larisa Dolina, Rodion Gazmanov, Dmitry Kharatyan, Tatiana Bulanova, the Popov Choir, and others. The National Centre RUSSIA will hear favourite Artek songs and warm congratulations. The event will end with a ceremony for handing over the "Artek rose" as a symbol of generational continuity.
It is symbolic that such events are held during the Year of Children's Recreation, established by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, noted Deputy Head of the federal organisation Olga Koludarova.
"We are celebrating the 100th anniversary of Artek in the Year of Children's Recreation. Preparations for the anniversary have been underway for several years. The key event was the signing of the decree by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, on awarding the Artek team the Order of Honour. To mark Artek's centenary, on June 3, the exposition '100 Years of Happy Childhood' will open at the Victory Museum in Moscow. Today, Artek is a unique educational environment," said Olga Koludarova.
Artek today is a symbol of the state's care for children, emphasised Konstantin Fedorenko, Director of the International Children's Centre Artek.
"Artek is an international platform for sharing unique experience in educating and nurturing our children. In 2025, the camp will host 15 anniversary sessions. All attention will be focused on 16 June, the date when, one hundred years ago, the first Artek line-up took place in the camp; this coincides with the 6th session. We are expecting 3,500 children for this session. These are children from all 89 subjects of the Russian Federation and 30 countries. These are the children from our friendly countries, who, together with us, are engaged in upbringing. During the session, we will revive the tradition from 1977—the international festival 'Let There Always Be Sunshine,'" said Konstantin Fedorenko.
He added that the anniversary session’s programme will be rich, with the support of 170 of the camp’s partners.
"Programmes will be implemented both inside Artek and outside of it. Of course, this includes a visit to the Hero City Sevastopol. Part of the programmes will take place at the unique venue of Tauric Chersonese. Certainly, there will also be visits to the palaces and nature of the southern coast of Crimea, as well as a series of events inside the centre, held from June 12 to June 16," said Konstantin Fedorenko.
Cooperation between the National Centre RUSSIA and Artek will continue in the summer of 2025. Graduates and students of the Young Guide School of the National Centre RUSSIA will come to Artek with a delegation and present the participants of the session with projects and programmes by the National Centre RUSSIA, including joint initiatives.
The press conference also featured the film "Artek Through the Century," which tells the story of the values of friendship, honour and valour that form the basis of the Artek spirit. Producer Armen Ananikyan announced that the film’s premiere will be held in Moscow on June 5. According to the plot, a descendant of the legendary lieutenant general is transported to the past in 1925, the year Artek was founded, and then is thrown into 1812, where he must go through trials to return back. The film will go on general release on June 12.
The meeting concluded with a mass flashmob by artists of the children's musical theatre Domisolka and the opening of the photo exposition "Artek – The Land of Happy Childhood" in the TASS square.
Earlier, the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, Sergei Kravtsov, reported that festive events dedicated to the anniversary of the camp will be held across the country.
The event was part of the programme celebrating this memorable date, which is widely marked at the National Centre RUSSIA.
