Virtual walk on the legendary "Sedov" barque of the Agency for Fishery at the RUSSIA EXPO
29.02.2024

The Kaliningrad region's stand at the International RUSSIA EXPO at VDNH has launched a 3D tour with a virtual walk around "Sedov", the world's largest training sailing vessel.

During the tour you can wander around the upper deck, after deck and tank deck, enter the engine room and tiller room, look into the cabins of the crew and cadets and even go up to the running bridge. The elements of mooring, anchoring, steering and other devices are described in detail. Many of these elements are authentic, so it will be interesting not only for people who are not familiar with the sea, but also for professionals. Filming for the tour was made in August 2022.

The legendary Rosrybolovstvo barque (shipowner - Baltic State Academy of Fishing Fleet, KSTU) has an interesting history that spans more than 100 years. For most of its life the "Sedov" barque has served as a sailing school for young boys and girls - cadets and juniors, future sailors.

The "Sedov" barque holds the official world speed record for sailing ships of this class, which is 18.32 knots. The record was set by the sailing ship in the Mediterranean Sea in 1987. In 2012-2013 it made the first round-the-world expedition. In 2019-2020 it participated in the round-the-world expedition of sailing vessels of Rosrybolovstvo "Sails of the World", dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica and the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. As part of the expedition in 2020, the ship crossed the Northern Sea Route and became the first sailing ship in 140 years to cross the Arctic seas along the Northern Sea Route. During the expedition, more than 350 cadets from Rosrybolovstvo's educational institutions practiced on the vessel.
