Visual triumph: avant-garde architecture of the Urals at the exposition in the National Centre RUSSIA
The
exposition "Legacy for the Future" showcases a diverse array of
works. In addition to classical pieces, it features vibrant and unique
avant-garde art, including a series of posters dedicated to avant-garde
architecture of the Urals. These posters were created by Dana Timonina, a
graduate of the Yekaterinburg Academy of Contemporary Art.
The term
"avant-garde" in art refers to an artistic movement of the early XX
century. This movement deliberately opposed academic traditions, rejecting
classical conventions. Avant-garde artists are known for their experiments with
forms, bright colors, and innovative ideas. Some of the most famous avant-garde
movements include expressionism, cubism, futurism, surrealism, and
constructivism.
A striking
example of avant-garde creativity is Dana Timonina’s poster series. The main
focus is on the combination of various visual elements. Visitors can see
photographs of real architectural objects from the Urals, collages, and
stylized geometric shapes. To create the posters, both contemporary original
photographs and archival images were used.
The textual
component plays a significant role: the posters feature fragments of poems by
avant-garde poet Vasily Kamensky, emphasizing the connection of the work to the
avant-garde movement of the XX century.
The
exposition "Legacy for the Future" presents works by young artists
from six countries: Russia, China, India, Brazil, Ethiopia, and Iran. Through
their art, these creators offer personal responses to contemporary challenges.
They reflect on the present, express their attitude towards the past, and
contemplate the future.
Visitors to
the National Centre can enjoy the exposition either independently or by joining
a free guided tour lasting 30 or 60 minutes. Registration is available on the
website in the "Events" section.
The event
took place on December 22 as part of the project "Masterpieces: The Best
of Russia."
