On the eve of Russian Science Day, celebrated on February 8, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin presented the Presidential Awards in Science and Innovation to young scientists for the year 2024 at the Kremlin. The head of state proposed creating a special exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA, allowing visitors to learn about the achievements of our country's researchers.

Ahead of the celebration, Vladimir Putin extended his congratulations to school teachers, lecturers of secondary and higher education, and scientific supervisors.

"I would like to sincerely congratulate you on the upcoming holiday and ask you to convey my deepest gratitude to your school teachers — this is where everything begins — to your lecturers and professors, scientific supervisors, colleagues in laboratories and research centres, because, as a rule, all achievements are made together with colleagues, — and to extend my best wishes to everyone who, like you, has dedicated their life to the pursuit of new knowledge, education, service to progress, and ultimately, of course, to their country and their people. You are paving your way in science during a challenging time. Just like the generation of our nuclear scientists and space pioneers, you and your peers — today’s postgraduate students and undergraduates — will have to tackle truly large-scale, inspiring, and historically significant challenges. This is about developing solutions and products that surpass foreign counterparts and ensure the country’s technological leadership in key and promising fields," the President emphasized.

Vladimir Putin noted that Russia today needs new scientific discoveries, inventions, and real scientific contributions to achieving the country’s national development goals. Young scientists will be supported in this effort by mentors — representatives of the country’s outstanding scientific schools.

"Through our own unconventional and unique solutions, we must create innovative products, move forward, and break ahead. Such leadership ambitions among our young researchers are one of the key conditions for Russia’s scientific and technological superiority, which we must and will undoubtedly strive for. This is precisely the goal we set for ourselves in a number of areas, and we want the entire country, the younger generation, to know about your achievements and take pride in Russian science," Vladimir Putin emphasized.

The President proposed creating a special exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA.

"So that its visitors — both our citizens and foreign guests — can better familiarize themselves with the achievements of our laureates and the best projects of young Russian scientists. It is important not only to enhance public respect and the authority of the new generation of researchers and to promote your work, but also to provide adequate financial support — without which, as we know, nothing can be accomplished," Vladimir Putin emphasized.

The President’s Award was established in 2008 and is presented for research results that make a significant contribution to the development of science, the creation of new technology and advanced innovations that drive economic and social progress, as well as strengthening the country’s defense capabilities.
