"You are the true treasures of our country": cosmonaut Fyodor Yurchikhin visited the National Centre RUSSIA and addressed young tour guides
Students of the Young Tour Guide School at the National Centre RUSSIA continue to gain hands-on experience in the profession. On May 25, the children led a tour of the "Journey Across Russia" exposition for pilot-cosmonaut and Hero of the Russian Federation Fyodor Yurchikhin.
The honorary guest rang the bells at the stand dedicated to the Golden Ring of Russia, experienced the scents of the taiga, and took part in composing personalised poems in "collaboration" with artificial intelligence. Fyodor Yurchikhin was especially interested in the children’s account of space achievements in each of Russia’s federal districts.
Next to the interactive apple tree model, Fyodor Yurchikhin shared with the children that fresh apples are regularly sent from Earth to space and have an especially pleasant taste. He enriched the young guide’s narration with intriguing facts, recalling lesser-known details from the biography of Vladimir Dzhanibekov and the team of space reconnaissance specialists named in honour of the legendary cosmonaut.
"I really enjoyed the tour, and I thank the National Centre RUSSIA for the invitation," said Fyodor Yurchikhin.
After examining the exposition, the dialogue with the young tour guides continued in a Q&A format. Fyodor Yurchikhin told the children how his dream of becoming a cosmonaut began, shared impressions of his first flight, and spoke about the origin of his space call sign. At the end, he addressed the children with words of guidance and encouragement.
"Find your own path, set the boldest, most ambitious dreams, turn them into goals, and move towards them with confidence. Remember: even if the goal is somewhere beyond the horizon — by taking just one step, you’re already closer to it. Good luck! You are the true treasures of our country. The future of our country—whether it is preserved and enriched—depends on who you grow up to be," concluded Fyodor Yurchikhin.
The "Young Tour Guide School" project launched at the National Centre RUSSIA on February 1 as a continuation of a tradition established at the International exposition-forum "Russia". The programme is designed for schoolchildren aged 9 to 17 from Moscow and the Moscow region. Project educators introduce children to the world of history, art, nature, and technology, familiarise them with the country’s cultural legacy, and help them develop public speaking skills and master their speech techniques. Upon completion, the young guides will conduct tours for visitors of the National Centre RUSSIA.
