Aerobatics: an exposition of air sports opened at the Alley of Glory
The seventh exposition of the Alley of Glory opened at the RUSSIA EXPO. This time, the exposition is dedicated to the victories of our athletes in air sports - helicopter, gliding, airplane, airmodel, parachute and ultra-light aviation sports.
The exposition of achievements of Russian athletes, created by the Russian Society "Knowledge", with the support of the Ministry of Sport of Russia, opened at VDNH in early December last year. The first steles were personally inspected by Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to the RUSSIA EXPO.
Eight outstanding Russian sportsmen took part in the opening ceremony and personally laid their gold medals in the exposition: Nikolay Burov, Alexei Volynsky, Lyubov Yekshikeeva, Georgy Kaminsky; Svetlana Kapanina, Mikhail Mamistov, Alfiya Semenova, Igor Trifonov.
Kirill Khvil, Deputy Director General of the Russian Society "Knowledge", made a welcoming speech. He thanked the athletes for their willingness to hand over their awards for the Alley of Glory.
"Russian sky conquerors have repeatedly graced various competitions with their skills. About 40 victories at world championships, over 18 thousand parachute jumps - and these are just some examples that confirm how strong our athletes are in air sports. Many of their achievements are included in the Guinness Book of Records. Champion awards of our compatriots, which can be seen on the Alley of Glory, show us that nothing is impossible. The main thing is to never give up, to go forward confidently and remember that we are a great Russian nation with an incredible will to win. Many thanks to our athletes for leaving here a piece of their lives - gold medals. Let everyone who comes to the Alley of Glory be inspired by the successes of our champions. Let's not forget: any heights are available to each of us if we believe in ourselves and act confidently!" said Kirill Khvil.
Alley of Glory in honor of the achievements of Russian athletes on the world stage opened on December 6, 2023 with an exposition about victories in martial arts. Later there appeared steles with the names and awards of champions in winter, summer, water, game sports, as well as shooting sports and fencing. Now visitors to VDNH can see authentic gold medals of Russian athletes for victories in air sports. The Russian Society "Knowledge" plans to open another, eighth exposition of the Alley of Glory, timed to coincide with the the 10th anniversary of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. Alley of Glory is located on the right and left sides of Pavilion No. 1, near the Main Entrance to VDNH.
