Exposition of Korean architects' work opens at the National Centre RUSSIA in the Primorye Territory
An exposition of Korean architects' work has opened at the
National Centre RUSSIA in the Primorye Territory as part of the XIX Annual
Session of Urban Planners. The exposition will run for three days and features
projects by award winners and students.
The XIX Annual Session of Urban Planners began at the National Centre with the
opening of an exposition of Korean architects' work. It features winning
projects from "Gyeongsangbuk-do Architectural Culture Day", alongside
student sketches. The exposition has been organised with support from the
Korean Architects Association of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province.
"I sincerely hope that the best architectural projects from
Gyeongsangbuk-do Province will offer fresh inspiration to members of the
National Guild of Urban Planners, and that this exposition of architectural
work from Gyeongsangbuk-do Province will mark the beginning of a strong
collaborative network between the Gyeongsangbuk-do Architects Association and
architectural experts in the Primorye Territory," noted the Chair of the
Korean Architects Association of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Song Dong-hun, in
his welcome address.
The works on display cover a wide range of building types, including
residential buildings, educational institutions and industrial facilities. For
example, the design for a gas turbine power plant in the city of Gumi
incorporates public spaces and extensive landscaping, while the student project
UNBOUND proposes revitalising an abandoned fish farm and creating a space for
nature-based and coastal recreation.
The architects' proposals take the region's climate into account. For example,
the design for "Seokpo Hana" kindergarten reinterprets the structure
of a traditional Korean house, with a natural wood interior intended to create
a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The Third Shore project offers a new
perspective on the threat that waves and sand pose to a building: its creators
believe that new land with its own ecosystem will gradually form around their
structures, blurring the boundaries between architecture and the natural world.
The XIX Annual Session of Urban Planners will continue at the National Centre
RUSSIA in the Primorye Territory on 15 and 16 October.
The latest programme is published on the branch's social media channels. Follow
