The Hall of Inventions at the National Centre RUSSIA is open for three more days
The
expositions at the National Centre RUSSIA are concluding their current run at
the end of this week. The Hall of Inventions, dedicated to the history of
emerging technologies, will be open until February 2 inclusive. After that, the
expositions will be updated.
The main
idea of the Hall of Inventions is to visually showcase the connection between
significant technological achievements of different years and the works of
global science fiction that inspired their creators. The exposition reveals
which literary work preceded each invention. On one side of the hall, visitors
can explore items dedicated to the lives of science fiction writers and their
creations, as well as read iconic quotes that offer a glimpse into the future.
On the other side, guests will encounter technologies and inventions brought to
life thanks to literary ideas.
In the Hall
of Inventions, visitors can discover who first wrote about unmanned aerial
vehicles, who came up with telephones and smartwatches, how the first
high-speed trains appeared, how neuroprosthetics developed, and where modern
social networks began.
For
example, one of the most important technologies first described in literature
was the "Vostok" launch vehicle, which marked the beginning of the
era of manned space exploration. It turns out that as early as the 17th
century, Cyrano de Bergerac described a similar invention in his work
"Other Worlds: The States and Empires of the Moon." Visitors to the
National Centre shared their impressions of the exposition.
"Fascinating
achievements that continue to amaze," noted Nina, a visitor from the
Kaluga region.
"The
Hall of Inventions perfectly complemented my understanding of the legacy of our
scientists," said Tatyana Kuznetsova, who visited the National Centre
during the New Year holidays.
"Surprisingly,
after living on Earth for several decades, I discovered new chapters of history
at the exposition," admitted Anna Yemelyanova from Pushkino, Moscow
region.
We remind
you that the second floor of the National Centre RUSSIA will be temporaril yunavailable to visitors as the expositions are being changed. Meanwhile, the
cultural, educational, and business programs will continue. All up-to-date
information about event dates and locations can be found on the website in the
"Events" section. Starting in February, the "Hall of
Inventions" and "Legacy for the Future" expositions will
conclude their displays. In March, after installation and updates, the National
Centre will unveil two new expositions: one dedicated to architecture and
another titled "Journey Across Russia."
In 2018, Russia became the country that hosted the best FIFA World Cup in history — according to the organisers themselves and fans from around the world.
