Living sounds and rare species: marking World Nature Conservation Day at the National Centre RUSSIA
On July 28,
World Nature Conservation Day is observed across the globe — a reason to look
at Russia’s natural wealth with fresh eyes. This day serves as an important
reminder of the vastness and fragility of our country’s ecosystem. One of the
best places to experience this is in the heart of Moscow — at the exposition
"Journey Across Russia" at the National Centre RUSSIA.
Unique natural zones, nature reserves, and rare animal species — all in one space!
The
exposition features dozens of specially protected natural areas, including the
Samarskaya Luka National Park, which forms part of a UNESCO biosphere reserve.
It is home to otters, eagle owls, white-tailed eagles, and over two hundred
species of birds — from larks to greater spotted eagles.
"In
spring and autumn, large numbers of migratory birds pass through the Volga
Federal District. Samarskaya Luka is a key stopover and nesting area for
them," said Dmitry Tyrkov, a guide at the National Centre RUSSIA.
To hear
nature is to truly feel it
In the
interactive zone dedicated to the Volga Federal District, visitors can listen
to the voices of the reserve’s inhabitants: the trills of nightingales, the
hoot of the eagle owl, and the cry of the golden eagle. The audio guide is a
true companion into the wild nature of Russia.
"We
used to recognise only the eagle owl’s hoot and the nightingale’s trills, but
here we discovered a whole world of bird voices," shared Inessa, a guest
of the exposition.
The
exposition "Journey Across Russia" is more than just an exposition
It is a
large-scale multimedia project about the nature, culture, people, and
achievements of all federal districts of the country. Geography and history
come alive here, the familiar sounds of nature can be heard, and every hall
becomes a step across the vast expanses of Russia.
The
exposition "Journey Across Russia" is a large-scale multimedia
project introducing visitors to the cultural and natural diversity of all
federal districts of our country. Guided tours of the exposition are free of
charge and available by prior registration on the website of the National
Centre RUSSIA, in the "Events" section.
Starting tomorrow, July 29, due to renovation work in pavilions No. 3, 4, 7 and at the Western entrance of pavilion No. 7, the access scheme to the National Centre RUSSIA will be temporarily changed.
The Vladivostok branch of the National Centre RUSSIA will serve not just as an exposition venue, but as a vivid reflection of Primorye’s dynamic progress.
The large-scale architectural exposition "The Birth of Scale" at the National Centre RUSSIA is coming to an end — the final day is July 30.
