Audio guide of the Chelyabinsk region
Welcome to the display of the Chelyabinsk Region!
Our region is located in the South of the Ural mountains, at the border of Europe and Asia, the land of three thousand lakes. The Chelyabinsk Region produces pipes and tubes for the oil industry, steel sheets for cars, modern trolleybuses and cross-country trucks, tasty pasta, and stylish suits.
We love our region and are happy to receive guests. We also have a great sense of humor! I, Stanislav Yarushin, can vouch for that!
The key asset of our region is the people, who are not as rough as the rumor has it. The Chelyabinsk Region starts with people and their dreams and hard work to achieve them. Our display tells a story of a person's dreams and achievements.
Let's find out more!
The Swing
It is the heart of our display and the symbol of a dream come true.
Look down when you start to swing! You fly over the key attractions of the Chelyabinsk Region: Lake Turgoyak, the Arkaim Museum, and Taganay National Park. From above, you will see Chelyabinsk, Magnitogorsk, and local ski resorts - we have twelve of those.
Go up, dream, and make your dreams come true! You can learn about the achievements of the residents of Chelyabinsk Region from other pieces at our display.
The Interactive Book
It will tell you about all of the pieces of our display: the industry and agriculture of the Chelyabinsk Region, nuclear towns, tourism, space and science, sports, modern infrastructure and... space again. The pages may seem empty but if you turn them, you’ll see something!
By the way, can you see the pipe installation there? It is here for a reason. Chelyabinsk makes large-diameter pipes for oil and gas lines. The production is so high-tech and clean that our steelworkers wear white robes.
The Map of Attractions
You can see the entire Chelyabinsk Region here! The map has several layers: – tourist attractions, industrial tours, labor merit cities, and nuclear towns. To see all objects, use the touch panel in front of the map.
On both sides of the touch panel, you can see the objects made by South Ural craftspeople. This is the Zlatoust ornamental weapons and Kasli iron sculpture. These trades have been around for over two hundred years.
In Zlatoust, they adorn not only weapons but also wall panels, tableware, and home decorations. The engraved plates often show battle scenes or landscapes of the Urals. The craftsmen do not use paints: colors are achieved through different metal treatment methods.
There is an interesting story behind the Russia sculpture that you can see now. It was part of the famous Kasli iron pavilion that won the Grand Prix at the Paris World Fair of 1900. The French president Emile Loubet wanted to buy the pavilion with all its pieces. However, the plant manager Pavel Karpinsky said “Russia is not for sale!” and the masterpiece returned home.
Industry and Agriculture
The Chelyabinsk Region is one of Russia’s leaders in metallurgy, machine industry, natural resource extraction, and the production of pasta, flour, and eggs! This part of the display tells about our achievements in more detail.
The screen has two interactive panels.
The first one shows the data on the industrial companies of the Chelyabinsk Region. Many of them are open to tourists, both children and adults. The panel has this information too: it is called “At Dad’s work”. To learn about industrial tourism, swipe the touch panel left or right.
Also, you can change the metal casting video. Draw figures with your hand on the touch panel, and you’ll see the graphics change on the big screen.
The second panel has a digital game. I’ve already said that the Chelyabinsk Region is one of the country’s leaders in agriculture. We wanted to show you how much food we produce. Press the buttons on the touch panel so that your character catches the foods in the basket.
3D Models of Modern Transport
Behind the transparent screen opposite the interactive panels, you can see three miniature models of public transit and specialized vehicles. These were developed by the South Ural engineers.
The Arctic bus can carry passengers at a temperature of –50 degrees! Modern trams feature a low floor, a nice interior, and a climate control system.
A trolleybus plant was launched in Chelyabinsk in 2023. Six months later, the first trolleys are already in operation! They can cover 80 kilometers without connection to the power line. This is very convenient for trips to remote areas of the city.
Touch the screen to read more about new transport.
Tourism and Ecology
The midpoint of the display tour is the time to rest. Sit on these stones - don't worry, they are soft! Can you imagine that there is a waterless river in the Chelyabinsk Region that is made entirely of such large boulders? It is called the Big Stone River. In this part of our display, you can watch a video about the beauty of the South Urals, our national parks and lakes, and learn about different types of tourism in the Chelyabinsk Region.
Tip: come to see our display in spring. You’ll see huge dandelions here and the video under your feet will be different.
FEDOR the Android
Here you’ll be greeted by a real astronaut! FEDOR was developed by Android Technics from Magnitogorsk. In August of 2019, it visited the International Space Station - not as a mere tourist! FEDOR helped scientists assess the work of android robots in zero gravity.
Don't forget to take a selfie with him!
The Maze Game
This corner is designed for our smallest guests! The play must help the astronaut deliver cargo to the International Space Station. This cargo carrier is now being developed by engineers in Miass.
To launch the game, move the figure with the cargo. The International Space Station will let you know what cargo it needs first.
That’s not all! While the cargo is traveling to the International Space Station, the Earth is threatened by an asteroid! It is similar to the one that fell in the Chelyabinsk Region in February of 2013! We brought a small piece of it for the display, and the largest fragment weighing half a ton is stored at the local history museum of the Chelyabinsk Region. You must deliver the crate with ammunition to the blaster to shoot the asteroid and prevent it from destroying our planet.
The Table Hockey
Let me invite you to the South Ural derby! The teams on ice are the Traktor (Chelyabinsk) and the Metallurg (Magnitogorsk). The game will be intense, and the spectators will support their teams!
Note that the sports segment of our display features not only the game but also a screen with a list of all competitions that will take place in the Chelyabinsk Region in 2024. Come to support your favorite athletes!
The Miniature of Infrastructure Projects
Let’s see our future here! This miniature shows the important social infrastructure facilities that have recently been or are currently constructed in the Chelyabinsk Region.
For instance, you can see the Igor Kurchatov Chelyabinsk airport named after the famous local nuclear physicist, or the Prityazhenie urban resort that appeared on a wasteland in Magnitogorsk.
You can learn more about all of the facilities using the augmented reality system. To do this, move the tablet along the miniature.
As I’ve said, the Chelyabinsk Region starts with people and their dreams! This region has vast opportunities for work, study, art, families, and rest. Make your dreams come true. See you in the South Urals!
