Tyumen region

Tyumen region is a territorial entity of Russia in the south of Western Siberia, part of the Urals Federal District. It is one of the most comfortable regions of the country. The history of Russian Siberia begins with the campaign of Ataman Yermak. In 1582, the pioneer Cossacks won a decisive battle with the army of Kuchum Khan. In 1586 on the Tura River the construction of the stockade began, which later became the first Russian city in Siberia - Tyumen. In 1587 Tobolsk was founded, which was the center of the region for a long time.
August 14, 1944 is considered to be the beginning of modern Tyumen region. It was then that a new entity with its administrative center in Tyumen was formed.
The discovery of hydrocarbon deposits became an important page in the history of the region. In 1953, gas was discovered near the village of Beryozovo, and in 1960 an oil fountain was discovered near the village of Shaim.
Today Tyumen region is known throughout the country and beyond its borders not only for its natural riches. One of the world's largest oil and gas chemical plants, SIBUR's ZapSibNeftekhim, operates here. The Proteinsib Plant, unique to Russia for the production of pea isolate, has been launched. Industrial goods produced in the region are exported to almost 90 countries. In 2023, Tyumen Region was ranked among the top three in the National Investment Climate Rating.
Comfortable region: in 2022, Tyumen region ranked 3rd in Russia by quality of life, as well as 1st in the Urals Federal District and 3rd in the country by housing commissioning. In addition to federal programs, the region has local programs to support families with children. STAND AUDIOGUIDE «TYUMEN REGION, I LOVE YOU!»
Hi! I'm Valentin Soroka. Most people in our country know me by the name Val. I host the morning show "Brigada U" on Europe Plus radio station. I will be your guide at the stand of Tyumen Region.

My student years connect me with Tyumen. I remember this time with great warmth and sincerely say: "Tyumen Region, I love you!" My fellow countrymen feel the same way: according to the All-Russian Center for Public Opinion Research (VTsIOM), 9 out of 10 Tyumen residents are happy and love their region. The beating heart in front of you is a symbol of this love.

It will be great if you try to memorize the key facts that we will tell you about during the tour around the stand. This knowledge will help you get a ticket to Tyumen Region.

What is it that attracts Tyumen Region? Let's have a look!

Start the tour: move along the transparent squares on the floor. Look: there are frozen pieces of bark, cones, tree cuts and other natural riches of Siberian forests, which occupy more than 70% of the region's area. Tyumen Region has a unique nature! The taiga begins here, where fur was once hunted, which was one of the most important exports for the country. To commemorate this, two sables are depicted on the coat of arms of Tyumen Region.
I'll surprise you, there is a sea in Tyumen!

Yes, there are sea waves splashing in the middle of Siberia. Under the surface of the earth. Millions of years ago, sea animals swam in the territory of modern Tyumen Region. Today their bones and teeth are found on the banks of rivers and lakes. They are in front of you, on the stand - you can touch them.

Due to tectonic shifts, the ancient sea is sealed in the Earth's crust. But you can swim in it! It rises to the surface of the earth with hot springs. There are more than 20 thermal resorts in the region, where you can find everything for recovery: mineral drinking water, therapeutic muds and swimming pools. Tyumen is officially recognized as the thermal water capital of Russia – this status was awarded to the city in 2020.

Our thermal season opens in November, because the most vivid impressions of immersing in hot water are in the bitter cold. "Cold on outside, hot on inside" is the slogan of Tyumen thermal seasons. Imagine: a winter evening, you are lounging in a bubbling pool, and the starry sky above you and snow-covered fir trees around you. More than 3 million tourists come to our region every year for such sensations!

You can find out all about Tyumen therms on www.visittyumen.ru

Oilmen found hot springs in our region. In 1949, an exploration well was drilled on the territory of present-day Tyumen. Instead of oil, a geyser burst out of the well. The history of our region is full of discoveries. We will tell you about them at the next stand.
Tyumen Region is a land of discoverers and innovators.

In front of you is a unique newspaper in which we have collected the most vivid historical events.

Tyumen is the first Russian city in Siberia. It was founded in 1586 after the victorious campaign of Ataman Yermak and his Cossack squadron. It was with Tyumen and Tobolsk that the exploration of Siberia and the Far East began.

In the 1960s, the West Siberian oil and gas province, one of the largest sources of hydrocarbons in the world, was discovered in Tyumen Region. The great pioneers Salmanov, Ervier, Muravlenko and many others will forever enter the world history of geology and oil and gas production.

Today, Tyumen Region is home to the Oil and Gas Cluster, an association of leading production companies and equipment manufacturers that helps Russia replace imported technologies in the fuel and energy sector.

The world-famous scientist Dmitry Mendeleev, who discovered the periodic system of chemical elements, was born in Tobolsk. Today, one of the world's largest petrochemical companies, SIBUR's ZapSibNeftekhim complex, operates in his hometown.

You can learn about the economic potential of Tyumen Region at the following stand. In 2023, the region ranked 3rd in the National Investment Climate Rating.

To the left of the screen is a machine for accepting plastic. Insert a bottle cap into it, and in return you will receive a heart made of recycled material. We developed this together with SIBUR, which created the Vivilen brand of polymers with recycled plastic. For example, it is used to make eco-friendly packaging for the Tyumen bottled water producer. Such bottles can be recycled again, which means that the plastic will not get into the environment. This is how Tyumen Region and SIBUR contribute to our country's Green Future.

If you want to learn even more about the great events in the history of Tyumen Region, watch the digital series on the vertical screen, and then continue our journey.

Pay attention to wooden panels with the image of Tobolsk and Tyumen.
Modern cities and districts of the region is a cozy and comfortable home for everyone.

In 2022, Tyumen Region is ranked 3rd among Russian regions by quality of life. The rating was compiled by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives. The assessment is based on the opinion not only of experts, but also of residents.

The comfort of our region has been appreciated all over the country: more and more compatriots are moving to Tyumen Region. The population of the regional capital alone has grown by 60% in 20 years. There is enough space for everyone - Tyumen Region is the third in Russia and the first in the Urals Federal District by housing commissioning per capita. We are not building faceless high-rise buildings, but modern residential complexes with well thought-out infrastructure. People are our main priority!

Do you remember the VTsIOM statistics that the majority of Tyumen residents consider themselves happy? The main reason for happiness, according to the respondents, is the well-being of the family.

Our region does everything to make families feel comfortable. Since 2006, Tyumen Region has had a stable positive population growth. The number of families with children, including large families - is growing - in five years there have been 1.4 times more families with children.

In addition to the federal ones, Tyumen Region has sixteen regional measures to support young parents. For example, regional maternity capital for the first-born child is 150 thousand rubles and 100 thousand rubles for the third and subsequent children.

We are actively building and renovating schools, kindergartens and polyclinics; we are improving public spaces. Over the last 5 years we have improved more than 160 parks, public gardens and squares, built more than 60 schools and kindergartens, sports and leisure centers, hospitals and clinics. Soon there will be even more: we plan to build 35 new social facilities in the next 3 years.

And, of course, you've probably heard a lot about our roads and interchanges: they're regularly recognized as some of the best in the country.

Now notice the picture of the Tobolsk Kremlin.

The only stone Kremlin beyond the Urals has been fully restored in Tobolsk! Tourists from all over the country come to see this marvel of Siberian architecture. They are welcomed by the Remezov International Airport, which opened in 2021. Just a three-hour flight from Moscow and you are in the ancient capital of Siberia.

On the stand on the right side you can see elements of carved platbands. This is part of the unique Tyumen wooden architecture. You can understand who lived in the house by looking at them. Pay attention: a scroll means a voivode or a lawyer, a garland with a spruce cone means an honorable resident or a merchant. Such houses can be seen in the center of the regional capital and the pedestrian street Dzerzhinsky. Improved in 2022, it has literally become an open-air museum.

In total, there are almost 2,000 objects of cultural heritage in the region - from old mansions to buildings of the Constructivist era. If you love architecture, come and visit!
On the next big screen, we showed 10 reasons to come to Tyumen Region. It seems that now you are thinking: "Do I want to come to Tyumen?"

Swim in a hot spring or visit the Tobolsk Kremlin, or maybe gather the whole family and relocate? You have a unique opportunity to win a weekend tour to Tyumen Region!
