A mountain girl. Karachay-Cherkess Republic
Hospitality
is the main treasure of the peoples of Karachay-Cherkessia. This fact has found
its reflection in the sculpture made by Khamzat Krymshamkhalov. The monument’s
name is "Goryanka" (‘a mountain girl’ in Russian), and it is a symbol
of openness and friendliness of the highlanders. The flower garden reflects the
local nature, and invites you into its warm embrace. Stones representing
mountains are a symbol of protection and support, the warm greenery of pine
needles is the comfort of a sweet home, flowers are purity and modesty.
First of
all, the garden displays a diversity of the Caucasus Mountains’ flora typical
for the region. It shows the brightness and saturation of the rich palette of
local plants, which are so consonant with the local flavor and complement it so
well.
The main
decorative element of the garden — the sculpture of a mountain girl — is
located in the center of the garden. Large coniferous "cedars" (cedar
pines) being the symbols of the region, are complemented by vertical stones symbolizing
mountain ranges.
The garden
is decorated with bright lush bushes of rhododendron — one of the most
beautiful and vibrant representatives of the mountain flora. The Caucasian
rhododendron, or mountain rose, is one of the symbols of Karachay-Cherkessia,
which has found its place even on the coat of arms of the region. In early
summer, this honey-bearing and healing plant blooms, thus decorating with its flower’s
green meadows and banks of hundreds of crystal-clear mountain rivers and lakes
of the republic. You can enjoy the mountain rose blooming there, at the
altitude of more than 2000 meters. Having smelt the fragrance of a delicate
flower once, mountain lovers return to it again and again.
