Yamal: heritage and horizons. Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area
The Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area is located in the Arctic zone in the north of the
West Siberian Plain. More than 50% of its territory is located above the Arctic
Circle. The future of the Area lies in this territory. Nature has generously
endowed these lands with a variety of resources, but their development requires
special delicacy and caution.
Already today the sea facade of the Arctic is busy and is included in the world transportation routes. Fuel and energy companies are actively developing. At the same time, the traditional occupations of the indigenous peoples of the North, including reindeer herding, are preserved in the region.
The region's composition at the RUSSIA EXPO includes a model of the
Yamal-LNG gas industry facilities: the onshore jetty and gas storage
facilities. There is also a bridge over the Yuribey River - the longest bridge
crossing above the Arctic Circle. The bridge is a part of the Obskaya -
Bovanenkovo railroad, it was built in record time - in 349 days.
One can also see a model of the Snezhinka (lit. Snowflake) research
station, where Arctic ecosystems will be studied. The composition is
complemented by figures of polar bears and walruses in their natural habitat,
as well as a camp of reindeer herders.
Despite the harsh climate, the Arctic is warmed by the warmth of the hearts
of Yamal residents. Thanks to coordinated work over many decades, Yamal
residents continue to discover the Arctic riches and invite everyone to admire
the beauty of the North.
Along with the RUSSIA EXPO, the flower festival is also coming to an end.
The "Future in Flowers" festival continues at the RUSSIA EXPO, where unique flowerbeds from all regions of our country can be seen at the "Space" pavilion until July 8.
The RUSSIA EXPO concludes on July 8, and with it, the flower festival will also come to an end.
