The cone, which became the center of the region's composition at the RUSSIA EXPO, symbolizes the heart of the green, rich in forest resources region.

The Siberian pine, or Siberian cedar as it is called in Russia (Latin: Pínus sibírica), was chosen as the center of the composition for a reason. The pine forest occupies one fifth of the forest fund of the region.

Siberian pine is one of the most beautiful and majestic trees of Siberia. Siberian pine lives up to 300-500 years, but only at the age of 30-60 years it begins to bear nuts. That is why it is often said that it is a tree for grandchildren. Only the grandchildren of the person who planted it can enjoy its nuts.

Since ancient times, people have considered the Siberian pine to be an animated being. There is a legend about a tired hunter who once camped under an ancient cedar tree in a remote taiga. The cedar was very old, all covered with twisted, crooked branches, and the ground under its crown was covered with a thick layer of fallen needles.

The hunter fell soundly asleep on the beautiful pine bed. Before dawn he woke up to the sound of moaning and quiet conversation. The old cedar under which the hunter slept was talking to the young cedar next to it. The old cedar was moaning and complaining to the young one that he was exhausted and could not stand anymore. "Why don't you fall down, for I heard about it yesterday as well?" remarked the young cedar in surprise. "Yes, — replied the old cedar, — I would have fallen yesterday, but a tired man went to sleep beneath me". The hunter took pity on the old cedar, got up, hugged the once mighty trunk tightly and stepped aside. The old cedar swayed and with a sigh of relief fell to the ground.

According to folk beliefs, this unique tree has a huge positive energy and eliminates any negativity. You do not need to ask it for help, it will find a way to help you itself. It is enough just to lean against the trunk of this powerful friend for a while to feel a surge of strength and uplift your mood.

Since ancient times, Siberian pine has been actively used in human economic activity. Today its use has reached industrial scales. Throughout the entire existence of mankind, pine forests have served as protection, they heal and feed. Siberian pine is used in construction: it is popular to decorate rooms with its wood, which emits ether that cures lung, cold and skin diseases, allergies.

In medicine, turpentine and oleoresin are used to prepare ointments and medicines.

Pine oil is rich in amino acids, vitamins and other useful substances and is used in cosmetology.

In industry, wood, needles, oleoresin and nuts are used. All this is processed and used in the production of paints, chemicals, furniture, and fabrics.
