The sea of the forest. Leningrad Region
The Leningrad region is rich in forest and water resources.
Ladoga and Onega Lakes, the Gulf of Finland, and rivers are the natural wealth
of the region. The Osinovets Lighthouse, one of the most beautiful lighthouses
in our country, is located on the shore of Lake Ladoga, near Cape Osinovets.
The lighthouse is a symbol of port logistics, one of the priority sectors of
the region's development. Ust-Luga, the country's largest port, is situated on
the territory of the region.
Tourism is another special branch of the regional economy.
For instance, ‘Trail 47’ is an iconic tourist destination. It was one of the
first improvement and development projects in the sphere of ecological routes
in the country. It is included into the list of achievements of Russia. The
routes are constantly being complemented. The flower bed of the Leningrad region offers its visitors
a landscape scenery with a stylized lighthouse structure, and a
sign saying ‘Trail 47’, as symbols of the future.
To decorate its flowerbed, the Leningrad region uses various types of flowers, berries, conifers and shrubs growing in the Northwestern climatic zone. Annual flowers — lobelia, hydrangeas, alyssum — complement the flowerbed and create the necessary decorative accents. The blue-and-dark-blue range of colors reminds us of the region’s water expanses. The forest berry planted in the flower bed is lingonberry, a wild plant. Its leaves are used for medicinal purposes. Lingonberry fruits are widely used in the regional cuisine, because they are good for making sauces and pie fillings.
Along with the RUSSIA EXPO, the flower festival is also coming to an end.
The "Future in Flowers" festival continues at the RUSSIA EXPO, where unique flowerbeds from all regions of our country can be seen at the "Space" pavilion until July 8.
The RUSSIA EXPO concludes on July 8, and with it, the flower festival will also come to an end.
