Up North — to live! Murmansk region
The
Murmansk region is an amazing place: if you travel 400 km from south to north,
you'll cross three natural zones: taiga, forest-tundra, and tundra. The
exposition showcases the rugged beauty of the incredible nature of the Polar
region and its industrial potential: in the vast tundra, there are real
mountains made of minerals, as about 30% of all known minerals and almost 75%
of the chemical elements of Mendeleev's table are concentrated in the depths of
the Murmansk region; across the plain flows a river full of salmon, there are
two seas, over 19 thousand rivers and more than 100 thousand lakes in the
region, and 11% of the total Russian fish catch comes from the Polar region.
The flower
bed is created based on the principle of a landscape composition. With the help
of cereals (Sedovian feather grass, moor grass, tufted hairgrass, and downy
oat-grass), an image of a river is created, where architectural forms in the
shape of salmon are installed. Lichens give a bright accent, emphasizing the
features of the region. Coniferous trees (Norway spruce) and shrubs (common juniper,
rhododendron bushes, primroses, and phloxes) add volume and visual diversity to
the exposition.
Individual
artificial large stones and groups of samples of minerals and natural rocks
(green amazonite and fuchsite, pinkish-gray granite, black diopside, yellowish
serpentine, etc.) are placed so that their position and presence seem natural.
Along with the RUSSIA EXPO, the flower festival is also coming to an end.
The "Future in Flowers" festival continues at the RUSSIA EXPO, where unique flowerbeds from all regions of our country can be seen at the "Space" pavilion until July 8.
The RUSSIA EXPO concludes on July 8, and with it, the flower festival will also come to an end.
