By the light water. Komi Republic
The
landscape composition of the Republic is named in honor of the largest national
park of the Northern and Subpolar Urals "Yugyd va" (translated from
Komi Zyrian as "light water"), included in the UNESCO World Natural
Heritage site "Virgin Forests of Komi". The idea of the project is to
convey the harsh beauty of the northern region with its vast taiga expanses,
thousands of crystal-clear lakes, and unique untouched nature.
The composition is built around a replica of relict lakes of the Ice Age. The water in the reservoir with a rocky bottom is clean, transparent, and in it, as in a mirror, plants typical for the flora of the Komi Republic planted along the shore are reflected. The restrained assortment is represented by coniferous trees (spruces and pines) and deciduous shrubs (rose and raspberry).
The lower tier is formed of ground cover plants of natural character - low grasses and lichens. The calm color palette is created by a combination of different shades of green and blue - in the conifers and leaf plates of the plants used, as well as various shades of natural gray stone.
The
compositional accent is a sculptural image of a girl's head made in a
characteristic technique of stone carving. For some people this girl is a
symbol of the World Mother (Zarni An), depicted on the state emblem of the
republic, and some people will see in it the female image of St. Paraskeva
Friday, especially revered by the Komi peoples.
