A national standard of state support for veterans of the special military operation has been developed
What assistance veterans and their families can rely on, how support is organised, and how psychological and social adaptation is ensured – these and many other issues were discussed on 10 December at the National Centre RUSSIA during the "Together We Will Prevail" forum. The event brought together more than 1,000 participants from across the country.
One of the discussions focused on establishing an effective system of support for defenders of the Fatherland as they return home. Participants examined medical and psychological rehabilitation, social adaptation, employment, state support measures and other important aspects aimed at ensuring that veterans can lead active, fulfilling lives in peaceful times.
"Heroes demonstrate through their own example the importance of the core values at the heart of Russian society: love for the Motherland, mutual support and loyalty to high ideals. I wish each of our men the strength to apply their skills in peaceful life and to support those returning home from the special military operation. The opinions of veterans, their involvement and their engagement in the work of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation and the state as a whole are vital to us," said Anna Tsivileva.
Head of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency Veronika Skvortsova spoke about the agency’s work in providing specialised, including high-tech, medical assistance to veterans of the special military operation and presented an exemplary model of comprehensive rehabilitation.
"On the instructions of President Vladimir Putin, the FMBA of Russia, together with the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation and the Rostec State Corporation, will establish ten flagship high-tech integrated prosthetics and rehabilitation centres over the next three years in every federal district. We not only save lives – we restore their quality. This is our duty to the defenders and veterans," said Veronika Skvortsova.
The FMBA of Russia is implementing a strategy of continuous, highly qualified medical assistance for heroes, including those with disabilities – from the frontline through to full rehabilitation and habilitation.
In 2024, an Integrated Prosthetics and Comprehensive Rehabilitation Centre was opened at the Federal Research and Clinical Centre for Medical Rehabilitation and Balneology of the FMBA of Russia. It includes prosthetics production as well as medical, social and cultural rehabilitation, professional orientation and physical rehabilitation using adaptive physical culture and sports.
Governor of the Astrakhan Region and Chair of the State Council Commission on Support for Veterans of Combat Operations – Participants of the Special Military Operation and Their Families, Igor Babushkin, noted that a unified national standard of support measures is currently under review by the Government of the Russian Federation. Adoption of this document will complete the creation of a unified system of support at federal, regional and municipal levels across all constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
"Authorities at all levels and regional leaders actively support participants of the special military operation and their families. Each region has its own measures. We have proposed a 19-point standard, which is now being reviewed by the Government of Russia and the Presidential Executive Office. It will include support measures related to social protection, education, employment, legal assistance, psychological support and more. This standard will apply across all regions of Russia, regardless of which region a person left to take part in the special military operation or to which region they returned," emphasised Governor of the Astrakhan region, Igor Babushkin.
More than ten events – panel discussions and open dialogues – are scheduled within the "Together We Will Prevail" forum, addressing the most significant issues for defenders of the Fatherland and their families. The organisers of the forum held at the National Centre RUSSIA are the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation, the Russian society Znanie, the Association of Veterans of the Special Military Operation and the Committee of Families of the Fatherland’s Warriors.
The event has become a key platform for dialogue, experience sharing and the development of joint solutions to support and integrate veterans into peaceful life, as well as to provide comprehensive assistance to their families.
