At the National Centre RUSSIA, the Governor of the Tula Region, Dmitry Milyaev, met with residents and experts as part of the series "Platform of the Future: Region-2030. 100 Steps". The main topic of discussion was health and longevity.

"The foundation of a long life is quality healthcare combined with a responsible attitude to one’s health. Such responsibility needs to be nurtured: physical exercise, giving up bad habits, and active, engaging leisure," noted the governor.

He emphasised that while individual responsibility is vital, the authorities’ task is to ensure access to medical care at all levels. In recent years, the primary level of healthcare in the Tula region has been significantly strengthened: feldsher-midwife stations have been built and renovated, and they are now equipped with modern facilities and transport.

Key measures:

— In 2024, for the first time in many years, the region achieved federal standards for the number of doctors;

— Monthly allowances have been introduced for specialists over 60 years of age — thanks to this, more than 300 doctors have returned to work;

— Today, 1,100 targeted students are studying under programmes for subsequent employment in the region’s medical institutions.

Alongside medicine, considerable attention is paid to prevention: the development of sports infrastructure, cultural initiatives, and healthy leisure activities. Employers in the region are increasingly supporting their staff by providing benefits, medical check-ups, and additional insurance programmes.

"Our task is to ensure that people remain healthy for as long as possible. To achieve this, it is necessary to instil healthy lifestyle habits from early childhood," stressed Dmitry Milyaev.

Meetings with governors are held as part of the programme of the National Centre RUSSIA — "Platform of the Future: Region-2030. 100 Steps", which is aimed at achieving national development goals and improving citizens’ quality of life.
