The Head of Karelia met with schoolchildren from the Zaporozhye region at the National Centre RUSSIA
At the invitation of the Government of the Republic of Karelia, schoolchildren from the Vasilyevsky district of the Zaporozhye region took part in an extensive educational programme in Moscow. On the final day of their visit, the children met with the Head of the Republic of Karelia, Artur Parfenchikov, at the National Centre RUSSIA and together visited the "Journey Across Russia" exposition. The event was held as part of the Days of the Republic of Karelia.
Artur Parfenchikov spoke to the guests about the traditions, culture, gastronomic brands and key landmarks of the northern republic. In particular, the schoolchildren learned that Karelia carefully preserves the legacy of Russian epic folklore, and that the paving stones on Red Square in Moscow were laid using Karelian stone brought from the islands of Lake Onega.

In a live dialogue format, the schoolchildren asked Artur Parfenchikov questions and warmly thanked him for the opportunity to visit the capital of Russia. Over the course of four days, the guests visited Red Square, VDNH, Zaryadye Park and other iconic sites of Moscow, explored the secrets of space at the Museum of Cosmonautics, and saw the city from the observation deck on Vorobyovy Gory (Sparrow Hills). At the National Centre RUSSIA, they showed keen interest in the expositions representing all federal districts of the country.
"We are very grateful to the Head of Karelia, Artur Olegovich, for the opportunity to come to the capital of Russia and visit its most important places, to see Red Square and Moscow City. I liked everything here very, very much," said one of the participants, Diana.
The Republic of Karelia Days are held within the "Book of Fairy Tales" exposition at the National Centre RUSSIA from 26 January to 1 February. The programme introduces visitors to the culture, nature, traditions and landmarks of the region.
