Guests of the National Centre RUSSIA send messages to the future
As part of this special project, participants of the International Symposium "Inventing the Future" can send a "Message to the Future" to themselves or to their loved ones. They can leave a wish, share plans, or write down dreams on a specially designed postcard. A large number of messages were already sent on the opening day of the Symposium on November 4.
"I am currently living in Moscow, having moved to Russia a few months ago. Today, I’m thrilled to send a letter from here to my parents, who live in the Misiones region in northern Argentina. In my letter, I tell them I’m well and that everything is good here. I hope they’ll soon receive it and send me a picture holding this letter!" shared Lucas Adrian Garcia, a young political scientist and student at HSE, who enjoyed participating in the project.
The young man added that he liked the concept of sending a message to the future, especially the part where the letter is handwritten; in his words, "We rarely experience that unique joy from receiving a regular message in a messenger app, where we can instantly reply." Adrian expressed his gratitude to the Symposium organizers and JSC "Russian Post" for the opportunity.
"This is a wonderful Symposium in the beautiful city of Moscow! It is a great honor and privilege to be here. In the letter I sent to my family, I wrote that I sincerely hope that much of what’s discussed at the Symposium will be realized in practice," said Vaibhav Ebale, a global technology sales specialist who came from India.
The Symposium participant added that, in his view, it is the representatives of rapidly developing nations, particularly those in the Global South, who will play a central role in the future and make significant contributions to building peaceful coexistence between nations, as well as between humanity and nature.
"I sent this letter to my dear parents in Yemen. I wrote to them that I am doing well, even though I live far from home. I am studying hard and want to tell them that I will become a good doctor. This is my dream, and I will do everything it takes to make it come true!" emphasized Abdo Sakr, a medical student at RUDN University.
According to the student, Russia has made a profound impression on him: "I want to say that Russia has always been great and now has become even greater. I thank Russia and the Russian people; I want to say that this country has given us not only the opportunity to study but also life itself!"
The International Symposium "Inventing the Future" is being held from November 4 to 6. Participants include scientists, researchers, futurists, science fiction writers, and representatives from government bodies from 101 countries, including Russia, India, Italy, Iran, China, the UAE, Serbia, the USA, and France.
