Owners of Crimean winemaking companies at the RUSSIA EXPO spoke about the unique climatic conditions that have made Crimean wines recognized around the world.

Valery Zakharyin, head of the Zakharyin's House winemaking project, said that Crimea has ideal natural and climatic conditions for growing grapes, which makes it possible to produce high-quality wines. According to him, Crimean wines have been recognized by an Italian wine critic, included in his wine guide, and have also been included in famous world ratings such as Robert Parker and Decanter.

"Grapes are a plant that needs a certain soil, natural and climatic conditions, which in Crimea are great. We have 20 climatic zones in Crimea. I sometimes ask, what is the lowest temperature in the Crimea? It was minus 37 degrees in 2012 in Nizhnegorsk district. At that moment it was minus 10 in another district," said Valery Zakharyin.

Alexei Lipko, the owner of the Domaine Lipko winemaking project, is convinced that the Sevastopol area has unique characteristics that make it possible to produce great wine.

"According to the general opinion of scientists, the Sevastopol zone is characterized by a combination of unique characteristics that allow to aspire and expect to produce great wine. Moreover, when Golitsyn started producing his famous champagne, which won the highest award at the Paris World Fair, he brought material from Sevastopol," Alexei Lipko is convinced.
