LizaAlert will open a stele of hope at the RUSSIA EXPO
At the RUSSIA EXPO in May 25, the LizaAlert search and rescue squad will unveil a stele "LIVE" dedicated to the Day of Missing Children. The event will take place at 15.00 near the arch of the Southern entrance of VDNH.
May 25 is the most important day of the year for LizaAlert. The squad is named in honor of four-year-old Liza Fomkina, who was lost in the forest and was found dead. Volunteers of the detachment use every opportunity to remind the society: thousands of children go missing, are lost and leave home every year. Most are found or returned - but not all.
The "LIVE" stele, created by LizaAlert together with the Guild of Blacksmiths of Russia, is made in the form of silhouettes of two children - a boy and a girl, who hesitantly stand holding hands. The stele will become a symbol of hope and support for parents who have faced tragedy.
From year to year on this day LizaAlert tries to draw public attention to the problem of missing children, to tell parents what to do if a child goes missing, what to teach their children to prevent it. From May 25 (Missing Children's Day) to June 1 (Children's Day) across the country, LizaAlert conducts campaigns and reminds children and their parents about safety rules, which are explained to children and their parents in every possible way - because if a child follows them, it will significantly reduce the likelihood that they will have to search for them.
LizaAlert Volunteer Search and Rescue Squad was founded in October 2010. The detachment is engaged in the search for missing people in the forest and in the city. All search activities are organized by LizaAlert volunteers on a free of charge basis. Today the squad has more than 40,000 people and is represented in 64 regions of the Russian Federation. It has 24 directions which are focused on the most effective response to each request.
Over 13 years, the squad has participated in the search and rescue of more than 181,000 people alive; over 248,000 applications have been received and processed, and more than 213,000 people have been found.
