Open Dialogue helps countries move forward in a multipolar world — Maxim Oreshkin

In a multipolar world with multiple centres of development, horizontal ties and direct dialogue between countries are particularly important, as they enable everyone to move forward together. Russia's Open Dialogue initiative helps facilitate this process by bringing together experts from around the world to communicate with one another and exchange experience and knowledge, giving impetus to the development of both Russia and the world as a whole. Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation, spoke about this on the sidelines of the International Festival of Youth – 2026.

"Today's changing world is becoming multipolar rather than unipolar, with many centres of technological, cultural and economic development. It is very important to maintain horizontal relations between countries. We are pleased that Russia is taking this initiative. We communicate with experts from around the world, which enables us to develop and move forward. This is important for our country and for global development," Maxim Oreshkin said.

The Open Dialogue "The Future of the World. A New Platform for Global Growth" is an annual international event supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The initiative was launched by the National Centre RUSSIA in partnership with the Centre for Cross-Industry Expertise "The Third Rome", with the support of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation. Since its launch, the Open Dialogue has brought together more than 3,000 authors and experts from more than 120 countries.

The first Open Dialogue "The Future of the World. A New Platform for Global Growth" was held from 28 to 30 April 2025 at National Centre RUSSIA. Representatives from more than 100 countries took part in the event. Experts from around the world submitted almost 700 essays for consideration.

The second Open Dialogue brought together representatives of states, international organisations, business, academia and the expert community to discuss key challenges and prospects for global economic development. The event was held from 27 to 29 April 2026.
