Workshops, chess tournament and quizzes from the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences will be held at the RUSSIA EXPO

The Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (FEB RAS) has prepared a big program on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

On February 8, the Far Eastern Panorama interactive platform and the stand of Primorye region will host educational and creative activities, chess tournament, workshops, quizzes, dedicated to the Day of Science and the 300th anniversary of the RAS.

From 12:00 to 13:00 the first part of the historical lecture "The Land of a Thousand Cities: Archaeological Antiquities of Primorye" by leading scientists of the FEB RAS and the quiz "Knowledge of the Far East" will be held. The winners will receive a collection of the "Legends of Far Eastern Science" book series. From 13:00 to 14:30 there will be a Chess Science tournament with the participation of young scientists and researchers from scientific institutes of the FEB RAS.

Also, from 14:35 to 15:40 you can visit workshops on origami of sea creatures. At the same time the second part of the lecture about life and science in the Far East will take place. And from 15:45 to 16:00 there will be a presentation of a series of books about Far Eastern scientists. The Science Day will end at the stand of the Primorye region, where an online ecological campaign "Plant Your Family Tree" will be held.

On the interactive map of the Botanical Garden-Institute of the FEB RAS it will be possible to choose a place, type of plant, assign it a family name and order its planting in spring. Greenery is expected to be planted in the territories of small towns and settlements most affected by typhoons (Spassk-Dalny, Vladimir-Alexandrovsky municipal district, Bolshoi Kamen, Nakhodka, Slavyanka, Vladivostok, Ussuriysk, Dalnerechensk, Dalnegorsk).
