The first All-Russian Wedding Festival will start on May 12 at the International RUSSIA EXPO. The key event of the day will be the largest wedding: more than 150 couples from all over the country will marry on the Main Street Stage.
The hosts of the ceremony will be a married couple Alexei Chumakov and Yulia Kovalchuk, and the marriage will be officially registered by employees of the Moscow Registry Office.
The Kostroma region will be represented at the festival by the couple Diana Neverova and Sergei Belyakov. They will be among hundreds of other brides and grooms to become husband and wife, saying the main words and exchanging rings. Kostroma natives have already chosen their wedding outfits, giving preference not to classical looks, but to stylized Russian holiday costumes.
Before the ceremony a large-scale wedding procession will take place on the Exposition territory, which will be attended by future spouses, invited artists, musical groups, including a gypsy theater ensemble, accordionists, stilt walkers and circus performers. The newlyweds will receive the flame of the All-Russian Family Hearth “Heart of Russia”, which was lit during the ceremony of the Year of the Family inauguration with the participation of President Vladimir Putin.
The festival will last more than a week - until May 19. As the organizers say, they have prepared a lot of surprises for newlyweds. “We want this day to be remembered by newlyweds and their relatives for life, together with the Moscow Government we have prepared several surprises for them. The first dance of the couples will be performed to a song by Yulianna Karaulova, and later Irina Dubtsova and Polina Gagarina will sing for them and the guests of the Exposition,” says Anastasia Zvyagina, Deputy Director General of the RUSSIA EXPO.
For a whole week, from May 13 to 19, the RUSSIA EXPO will turn into a festival space where marriages will be arranged, theatrical parades, masterclasses, concerts and performances will be held.
