28.12.2023
A special collection of Vologda lace was presented in Pavilion No. 75 of VDNH on the Day of the Vologda Region.
The extraordinary beauty of Vologda region lace panels is known even abroad. The guests of the Vologda region stand at the RUSSIA EXPO can now see the unique weaving techniques of patterned ornaments with their own eyes.
"Vologda has been and remains one of the renowned centers of lace making, where centuries-old traditions are carefully preserved. The panels presented at the stand have visited museums in Germany, Denmark, Poland, Croatia, France and other countries. Two panels on the stand are part of the exposition of the Vologda Lace Museum. This is the only museum in Russia dedicated to lace weaving," said Georgy Filimonov, Acting Governor of the Vologda region.
Vologda lace is more than two hundred years old. Regional craftswomen weave products by hand using pair and coupling techniques. Vologda lace has been repeatedly awarded for its quality and artistic execution and was awarded at world lace art contests.
Regional lace weaving techniques are characterized by a special smoothness of lines, rhythmic repetition of elements, rich patterns and original motifs. Lace ornaments are used in the Vologda region to decorate clothes, bed linen and interior items.
