The National Centre RUSSIA to release a family book series
The National Centre RUSSIA, that will start its work on November 4 in Moscow, will release a family book series. It will include books for both children and adults, covering history and culture, popular science and leisure, biographies, and more.
"There are books that haven’t been published for a long time but are essential for readers of all ages. That’s why the Library of the National Centre RUSSIA will include titles that have withstood the test of time as well as new books — from both well-known authors and those yet to gain a wide audience," explained Natalia Virtuozova, Director General of the National Centre RUSSIA.
The books in the Library of the National Centre will help readers discover a new side of Russia, get to know new talented authors, broaden their reading horizons, and enrich their home libraries with editions for all generations.
The first book in the series will be "Professor Puzzle’s Puzzles" by Mikhail Gershenzon, a book once found in almost every household. Millions of people in our country across different generations grew up with this book. It’s one you can open to any page to dive into a captivating world of puzzles and brainteasers created by the author. His challenges will appeal to readers of all ages.
Many international participants of the International Symposium "Inventing the Future," the first event of the National Centre RUSSIA, shared memories of books that influenced their childhood and future career paths.
For example, former Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs Karin Kneissl mentioned that she was influenced by "The Prophet" by Lebanese poet and artist Kahlil Gibran. President of the Chilean Robotics Association Rodrigo Andres Quevedo Silva spoke enthusiastically about Papelucho, the main character of a children’s book series by Chilean writer Marcela Paz.
Some guests not only shared the books that inspired them but also expressed a desire to donate their favorite works to the future library of the National Centre RUSSIA. For instance, honorary consul of Russia in Canada John Stuart Durrant’s favorite childhood book was "The Call of the Wild" by Jack London.
The National Centre RUSSIA plans to translate some of these books into Russian and publish them as part of its own series.
On July 1, 2024, President Vladimir Putin signed an order to establish the National Centre RUSSIA to preserve the legacy of the RUSSIA EXPO and showcase the country's achievements on a permanent basis.
